Big Mike Lewis

I am really into Clint Eastwood westerns.

I own a copy of The Great Escape...great movie.

CSloan

I love the old Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies.

I often see old movies -- black & white, occasionally colorized, some color --

Doris Day, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart --

In the El Cheapo DVD bin at Wal-Mart and Dollar Stores.

I have gotten several old movies and TV shows on DVD (Father Knows Best, George Burns & Gracie Allen, Danny Thomas, Loretta Young -- Boy!  The two or three of her old shows I have on DVD, what an actress that was! --

I've gotten these old shows and movies for $1, $2, $5.  Keep a lookout, you'll see them.

My ultimate favorite movie -- that I will watch over and over, evry year or 18 months or so -- is A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, with Phil Silvers, Buster Keaton, Zero Mostel.

When I saw the thread title I thought - Yeah, I'm a movie fan and I'm old - then realised that wasn't what you meant!

Many of my favourite movies are oldies, like Casablanca and Singin' in the Rain. Or just about anything with Cary Grant in it. Ones I didn't see mentioned so far that I would recommend are Double Indemnity (starring Barbara Stanwyck & Fred MacMurray), one of the finest film noir and The Lady Eve (Henry Fonda & Barbara Stanwyck - yes, I'm  a fan!) - a great comedy.

There's been a few mentioned here that I haven't seen and which I will now look out for - thanks!

Janine, I love Loretta Yound and Cary Grant in "The Bishop's Wife"... David Niven is in that too. I have it.

Phantom,  Thanks for the reminder on the Lady Eve... I like that movie, going to have to add it to my list now!

I have a couple Bette Davis movies, "All about Eve"... great movie.  I want to get "Dark Victory"... I like her in that.  I mean I liked the person she played.  I did not like the She in "Little Foxes"... ohhh... she gave me the creeps!  But, it is a good movie.  She was good in "Jezabel" but again... selfish person she played.  "Mr Skeffington" was so sad. That male lead was the same guy who played her husband in "The Little Foxes".

If you want laughs... Doris Day and James Gardner in "Move Over Darling" came out on DVD this year.  Or they also are in "The Thrill of It All".  She is in "Please Don't Eat The Daisy's" with David Niven.  That is pretty good too.  She did "Calamity Jane".  And I like Debbie Reynolds in "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" too.

Gene Kelly in "Brigadoon"... I want that one.

Shirley MacLaine in "What a way to go".... had many costars... Dean Martin, Robert Mitchim, Dick Van Dyke, Paul Newman, (I love the "Young Philidelphians"), Robert Cummings and Gene Kelly too!

Sheessh... I need to make a new list!   ::eatingpopcorn:  ::eatingpopcorn:  ::eatingpopcorn:

Hey, Mike!

Yes, it is indeed, or the Forth Rail Bridge, or even just the Forth Bridge, as we call it locally. I live just a few miles away from there.

Have you ever been to Scotland?

Yes I have. A great place, and I hope to travel in Scotland again some day.
It's good to meet you online.  ::tippinghat::
