Is it Ever OK to Marry an Unsaved Person?

The reason so many people worry about a Christian falling away when they make themselves one flesh with an unbeliever is because that is what does happen, more often than not.  It's not a foolish fear.

Does that mean that every believer who marries an unbeliever is automatically going to suffer a rotten marriage and be Hellbound to boot?   No, of course not.

It's just better to marry someone who cares about the Lord at least as much as you do -- and who shares your outlooks and values in many areas that have nothing directly to do with The Faith.

I am carefully ignoring all other posts before putting my oar in so that I won't be influenced by what has been said before me so if am repeating anyone then sorry.

My personal opinion is that YES go ahead, it is very okay to marry an unsaved person.

My reasons,
Well Jesus did not hang about with just the good guys did he?  Who were the totally good guys in the New Testament anyways.  He mixed with the good and the bad people.  He needed to mix with the bad people to help them to believe in him.  So  if you only mixed and married what you call good people or in your terms, saved people, you wouldn't be proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ very well would you?  It is easy to convert the converted.  So if you just so happen to love someone even though they and you believe they are not saved.  Don't stop loving them.  Go ahead and love them all the more.  But word of warning.  Dont give in loving them just because they don't go your way in being saved. Love them for who they are rather than for what you want them to be.  One day, just one day, through your love and patience they may realise and be saved.  But don't bank on that happening. Count it as a blessing if it happens.  Without you there loving them, with out Jesus there teaching them, what chance have they of being saved.....?  With Jesus anything is possible.   But don't go around loving the unsaved as you put it so that you can save them.  Love people for who they are and take it from there. Don't bully the message home in any way what so ever.

Yeah.  A "to get married " Christian is no different from a "rice Christian".

So therefore a "to get them saved" Christian spouse is not different from a "buy their allegiance" missionary  rice-provider.

my husbands first marriage was to a saved person.  when he met me i wasnt' and no one thought we would last.  if you love someone i dont' see a problem with the marriage just dont' expect them to change.  I did change but it was never expected of me

Yes it is! You can be with any person you want.

Does the Bible fit anywhere into you advice?

Wanting or considering marrying a non-Christian depicts a problem in a person's personal relationship with Christ. Why would we marry someone who doesn't know the Lord? In unequally yoked marriages, it is the children who suffer the most.
