"I'm a father. It isn't just my life any more. I don't want my kid finding bottles in the house or seeing his father completely smashed...

I'm always telling the people in our audience to look out for one another...

I'm very monogamous..."

~Billie Joe Armstrong of the band Green Day

Big Mike Lewis

I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
He brought me up out of the pit
Out of the miry clay

I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song

How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song
How long...how long...how long...
How long...to sing this song

He set my feet upon a rock
And made my footsteps firm
Many will see
Many will see and fear

I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song

How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song
How long...how long...how long...
How long...to sing this song

~Bono of U2 - Lyrics from Psalm 40

"A lot of people think Christianity is about always being perfect. It's actually the opposite of that. It's realizing that we're all humans, and that's why God sent his Son to this earth - to save people.

Each person has their own calling on this Earth.

I always prayed that God would give me the wisdom and the vision to do the things on this earth that I was supposed to do to express His life and love and His will.

I am and always will be a sinner. But that's the beautiful thing about Jesus. I'll always try to be a better person in the eyes of God. But I'm not all of a sudden stepping up on a pedestal and saying I'm holier than thou, 'cause I'm not!"

~Billy Ray Cyrus

Big Mike Lewis

"I'm not into that whole Satanic thing. It's just something to fall back on if you don't have much imagination. Singing your fiftieth song about having lunch with Satan - I'm not into it. It's silly."

~Kirk Hammett - Lead guitarist of Metallica

"I was just sitting there with Pagey in front of a fire at Headley Grange. Pagey had written the chords and played them for me. I was holding a paper and pencil, and for some reason, I was in a very bad mood. Then all of a sudden my hand was writing out words. 'There's a lady who's sure, all that glitters is gold, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.' I just sat there and looked at the words and then I almost leaped out of my seat."

~Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin (Stephen Davis, Hammer of the Gods, p. 164)

Elvis is part of the Satanic plot too?

Elvis is part of the Satanic plot too?

You might be suprised how deep this runs.

"Elvis was a great fan of occultist Madame Blavatsky. He was so taken with Blavatsky's book The Voice of Silence, which contains the supposed translation of ancient occultic Tibetan incantations, that he "sometimes read from it onstage and was inspired by it to name his own gospel group, Voice"

(Goldman, Elvis, p. 436)

Look into Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, and what she teaches.

janine

Yeah.  And he ain't dead, neither.

Many musicians are being used by Satan as a lure to the youth. After all, the youth look up to these musicians and they have influence on people. Elvis had a lot of influence on people back in those days. Many are involved in occultism but they've done a real job at hiding it so that people would listen to their music and not even know what they are  really listening to.

Jesus said..."it's not what goes into a man (listening to anything) that makes him unclean..." Sorry but if your heart is clean then nothing can taint it.

I find that a lot of the artists especially one of those songs you mentioned, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I see faith in your eyes: Never your hear the discouraging lies: I hear faith in your cries: Broken is the promise, betrayal: The healing hand held back by the deepened nail: Follow the god that failed"
-----------------------------------------------are reaching out to find God. They have been let down by the hypocrisy and lies told in the churches and equate God with that.

Some of these guys are just crying out to God for reality.

Jesus said..."it's not what goes into a man (listening to anything) that makes him unclean..." Sorry but if your heart is clean then nothing can taint it.

Actually, if you read matthew15:11, Jesus says, "Not that which goes into the mouth of a man defiles a man; but which comes out of the mouth that defiles a man. He was talking about what you eat as the Pharisees were accusing the disciples of eating without washed hands. He was making a point on that is not what defiles a person. But what you listen to and what you watch on Tv does effect people. The ear gate and the eye gate effects people.

2Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

If we are living for Christ, the old way of living is gone. That includes corrupted music and wicked things seen on TV or at the movies. Ephesians4:24 says to put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. If we have done that, we will not want to listen to music or watch crap on TV and at the theatre that is contrary to righteousness and holiness. Music that degrades God, that glorifies Satan and demons, music that promotes violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and/or is sexually explicit goes against the will of God. Those who have put on the new man which after God is created  in true righteousness would find music like that repulsive.

1Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Listening to music like that is defiling that temple. It goes against the Spirit of God. Our hearts are supposed to have the Spirit of God indwell in.

We need to think on the things that are TRUE, HONEST, JUST, PURE, LOVELY, OF GOOD REPORT, AND THINGS OF VIRTUE AND PRAISE since these are things that is in line with the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Remember the ways of our past life before we came to Jesus Christ can only corrupt us (the Christian). That is why the Word is telling us to think on these things, so we don't allow our old nature to corrupt us. The kind of music we used to listen to, corrupts us. 1Corinthians 15:33 says, "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners." Communicating with wicked, evil music that goes against God, corrupts us. By allowing that wicked music into the ear gate, it get's into our spirit. Since we are temples of the Holy Spirit, this is what we need to have indwell in us, the things of God, things that are TRUE, HONEST, JUST, PURE, LOVELY, OF GOOD REPORT, AND THINGS OF VIRTUE AND PRAISE. Not things that blaaspheme God, that glorify Satan and demons, that promote sexual perversion, violence, drug and alcohol abuse.

If you see someone calling Christ a failure like an attempt to find God, maybe you need to get reacquainted with reality.

Not to mention this isn't just some kid crying in the corner, this is a popular rock group with international following; influencing millions of people.

Some have become so embittered by negative experiences in the church, that they have turned it into the enemy, and the world into their friend.

Revolution by The Beatles

The original slow version appears on The White Album. The fast, loud version was released as a single. In the slow version, Lennon says "count me in" as well as "count me out" when referring to violence [destruction]. This gives the song a dual [hidden] meaning.

The Beatles were idiots.

Jesus is the God who "failed".

Idiots, worldly devilish idiots, cannot see the deep meaning and poetry and balance and scandal and audacious love behind His decision to walk that road to Golgotha.

Therefore, to them, He failed.

James Rondon

I wonder what John would have to say about that, now?...

Going in a different direction. Interesting note about this song. Bruce Sprigsteen recorded it for his album "The Rising" which dealt directly with the aguish he felt after 9-11. Readint the lyrics it might seem that he wrote it not long after 9-11 but he actually wrote it thirty years ago.
Anyway here it is.

"My City's In Ruins" by Bruce Springsteen

There is a blood red circle
On the cold dark ground
And the rain is falling down
The church door's thrown open
I can hear the organ's song
But the congregation's gone
My city of ruins
My city of ruins

Now the sweet bells of mercy
Drift through the evening trees
Young men on the corner
Like scattered leaves,
The boarded up windows,
The empty streets
While my brother's down on his knees
My city of ruins
My city of ruins

Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!
Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!
Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!

Now's there's tears on the pillow
Darlin' where we slept
And you took my heart when you left
Without your sweet kiss
My soul is lost, my friend
Tell me how do I begin again?
My city's in ruins
My city's in ruins

Now with these hands,
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray Lord
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray for the strength, Lord
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray for the faith, Lord
We pray for your love, Lord
We pray for the lost, Lord
We pray for this world, Lord
We pray for the strength, Lord
We pray for the strength, Lord

Come on
Come on
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up

"I won't believe in heaven and hell; no saints no sinners no devil as well; no pearly gate no thorny crown; you're always letting us humans down; the wars you bring; the babes you drown; those lost at sea and never found; and it's all the same the whole world round; the hurt I see helps to compound; That Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; is just somebody's unholy hoax; And if you're up there you'd perceive; That my heart's here upon my sleeve; If there's one thing I don't believe in... It's you, dear God."

George Harrison on 'My Sweet Lord':

I wanted to show that Hallelujah and Hare Krishna are quite the same thing. I did the voices singing 'Hallelujah' and then the change to 'Hare Krishna' so that people would be chanting the maha-mantra-before they knew what was going on! I had been chanting Hare Krishna for a long time, and this song was a simple idea of how to do a Western pop equivalent of a mantra which repeats over and over again the holy names. I don't feel guilty or bad about it; in fact it saved many a heroin addict's life."

"Hallelujah" is a joyous expression the Christians have, but "Hare Krishna" has a mystical side to it. It's more than just glorifying God; it's asking to become His servant. And because of the way the mantra is put together, with the mystic spiritual energy contained in those syllables, it's much closer to God than the way Christianity currently seems to be representing Him. Although Christ in my mind is an absolute yogi, I think many Christian teachers today are misrepresenting Christ. They're supposed to be representing Jesus, but they're not doing it very well. They're letting him down very badly, and that's a big turn off.

My idea in "My Sweet Lord," because it sounded like a "pop song," was to sneak up on them a bit. The point was to have the people not offended by "Hallelujah," and by the time it gets to "Hare Krishna," they're already hooked, and their foot's tapping, and they're already singing along "Hallelujah," to kind of lull them into a sense of false security. And then suddenly it turns into "Hare Krishna," and they will all be singing that before they know what's happened, and they will think, "Hey, I thought I wasn't supposed to like Hare Krishna!"

Oh good grief.

That silliness was proven to be such decades ago.

I read a few of these posts.

What I'm failing to understand is that if this music is so terrible, why are some people taking time to listen to it to pick out the 'bad' words or phrases. I think that you have a choice whether or not to listen to it.

Many of us have been so exposed to this music before our conversion that we know the words by heart. Other are still listening to this music since they were converted, those are the people who need to not only see the evil of these lyrics but understand what they are really saying.
