Slaves
Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh
Heed
To his every word, live in fear
Faith
Of the unknown one, the deliverer
Wait
Something must be done, four hundred years

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death

Now
Let my people go, land of Goshen
Go
I will be with thee, bush of fire
Blood
Running red and strong down the Nile
Plague
Darkness three days long, hail to fire

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death

Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first-born man
Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first-born man

I
Rule the midnight air, the destroyer
Born
I shall soon be there, deadly mass
I
Creep the steps and floor, final darkness
Blood
Lambs blood painted door, I shall pass

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death

Metallica - Creeping Death (also found in Exodus)

Barabbas

20 "Look, O LORD, and consider:
Whom have you ever treated like this?
       Should women eat their offspring,
the children they have cared for?
Should priest and prophet be killed
in the sanctuary of the Lord?

21 "Young and old lie together
       in the dust of the streets;
       my young men and maidens
       have fallen by the sword.
       You have slain them in the day of your anger;
you have slaughtered them without pity.

22 "As you summon to a feast day,
so you summoned against me terrors on every side.
In the day of the LORD's anger
       no one escaped or survived;
those I cared for and reared,
       my enemy has destroyed."

Lamentations

CSloan

"I have lost the will to live: Simply nothing more to give: There is nothing more for me: Need the end to set me free... No one but me can save myself, but it's too late: Now I can't think, think why I should even try: Yesterday seems as though it never existed: Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye, *Goodbye*"

~Metallica glorifying suicide in - Fade to Black (Same album as the Creeping Death)

Barabbas

First let me say I know there is blaphameous stuff out there.  I'm not defending that.

But in our polemic on the music industry - I think we need to realize that poetic license is used to state the truth.  Not everything that sounds negative on its surface really is.  I mean... look at Ecclesiates, Job, Psalms, Lamentations.  Our God is big enough to speak to the pathos of human existence.  If we were as harsh on the Bible as we are about some of the songs out there - then we would be interpreting the Bible with a pen knife - cutting out all that we don't agree with.

CSloan

"Down in the depths of my fiery home: The summons bell will chime: Tempting you and all the earth: to join our sinful kind: There is a job to be done and I'm the one: You people make me do it: Now it is time for your fate and I won't hesitate: to pull you down into this pit: So come on, Jump in the Fire, So come on, Jump in the Fire"

mmmhmm.  I was just pointing out that you don't know any history behind your music you are quoting.  Not justifying bad behavior.

Does someone need to know the history behind the music before their influenced by it?

Not at all, but let's not blame music for poor morals or bad decisions.  That's a cop out.

Whats the copout, not recognizing the evil that we are pumping into the hearts of our children, or justifiying it?

It's "they're" not "their".  Hmm...I think I just realized something....

I am not justifying it!  Didn't you all hear me say that?

Second, I am not pumping any music into anyone, so if my kids turn out bad, then I can't turn on the music industry for releasing bad music.  It's my fault for not parenting them.

Nice try to equivocate me with him.  That's not what I was saying.  People on here know me and my heart.  I am cutting off communication with you because you are now slandering my name.  Slander is sin...let's not measure sin by our standards now...

You tried, Mike.  It's a lost cause, though.

Big Mike Lewis

Thanks Don...I just don't like conspiracy theorists.  I must hate kids too huh?

James Rondon

When we look at the state of the church today, and the state of the world, and then we consider what we set before our eyes and ears, and allow into our hearts, is there any question as to why? It's not a matter of conspiracy theory, it's a matter of apathy, and conformity to the world.

janine

If you do not parent your kids well, Marilyn Manson and Prince and the more profane rappers and Garth Brooks and Oprah and your preacher will raise them.

There is not really any difference between all those influences, at least as far as thinking in simple terms of stuff the kid is told or sees or hears.

It's up to you to parent.

I will assume that everyone who has posted so vehemently on this thread, against the Eeeeville Music Industry, has also homeschooled their children, right?  And I would not see your kids dressed in anything with a corporate logo on it, right?

If you're concerned about holiness and purity down to the tiny foundational building block degree, I must assume that you speak up whenever your church group wants to do anything you find questionable... like, if the teens want to hold a car wash to raise money for a bus trip, you'd not allow the congregation's name out there in public like that, would you, soliciting?

Not that you'd really want them doing a car wash anyway... bunch of teens in clingy wet clothing is roo much devil-foothold.

None of you work for any company with any questionable practices I hope?  You've researched the personal lives of the people you work for, I hope.  Wouldn't want to support an evil lifestyle.

Have you done away with all the nursery rhymes and most of the holiday celebration trappings?  So many of them had origins in evil and death...

And every time you state the common names of the days of the week, don't forget all those pagan deities you're calling on.  Watch your mouth.  You never know when Odin or Thor will show up if you invoke them like that.

Have you taken a razor knife and cut any songs out of the songbook with tunes that originated as secular, or even tavern/drinking, tunes?

Just thinkin'...

CSloan

"I bash myself to sleep: What you sow I will reap: I scar myself you see: I wish I wasn't me... I throw a little fit: I slit my teenage wrist: most I can learn: Is records that you burn: Get your gunn"

~Marilyn Manson urges kids to commit suicide in - Get Your Gunn

James Rondon

Are you sure you want to ask me those questions, Janine?... Regardless, why are you trying so hard to muddy the waters? Song lyrics have been listed that are outright blasphemous, and you're talking about corporate logos? Britney Spears, Christina Aguilara and Madonna have a mock lesbian wedding performance at the MTV Music Awards, which they ended by singing the words "we are bored with the concept of right and wrong", and you want to talk about days of the week? Apples and oranges, Janine. Gnats and camels.

The word conspire means to plan secretly unlawful acts, to plan acts of evil. Satan conspires to destroy humanity and lead humanity away from Christ(the only one who can give salvation). He conspires to get the church to be lukewarm, to be just like the world. James4:4, Titus2:12 and 1st John2:15 tell us not to love the world, not to be wordly. You cannot serve Christ if you are worldly. Satan has done a real job bringing in worldliness into the church. he has done a real job getting christians to be lukewarm(as many of them are). That is conspiracy. He plots that evil secretly(he certainly doesn't want to be expsoed). he comes to steal, kill and destroy(John10:10) which is contrary to the abundant life that Jesus came to give us(also in John10:10). The ungodly music in the music industry is contrary to the abundant life, it is spiritual death. Sin leads to death and that's what that music promotes. Satan has conspired to bring that music into society. It's amazing as to how many people laugh and mock, calling us conspiracy theorists. Anyone who is not ignorant of Satan's devices(as 2nd Corinthians2:11 tells us to be), would agree that satan conspires to destroy humanity.

I'm sure we'll all be a better church and a better society when they ban all that howwible ol' secular music and the only thing we ever hear is the religious music wafting down from the high speakers of the religious buildings.

Kinda like in some Islamic areas.

Let's be realistic. There's no way that will ever happen.  : ::sarcasm:: We'el never rid the world from all the howwible ol' secular music that is poisoning people's minds and desensitizing people to sin.  ::frown::  But we can expose it for what is really is. We can enlighten people to know what they are really listening to, that way they are not deceived, listening to ungodly music thinking it's just music. 2nd Corinthians2:11 says to not be ignorant of Satan's devices, lest he will get an advantage over you. Hosea4:6 says that God's people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge. The truth is, God's people who are supposed to be walking in truth, are being deceived. It effects their walk with God, because God desires that His people know the truth(John8:32), and walk in the truth(3rd John, vs.3,4).

Why have you turned this into a mocking of what is good, and the defense of what is clearly evil?

Have you been so calloused by the world that your discernment has turned you to scorn?

Don't let that get to you. There are some people here that don't want the truth to get out.

"I'll give you black sensations up and down your spine: If you're into evil you're a friend of mine: See my white light flashing as I split the night: 'cause if Good's on the left, then I'm stickin' to the right: I won't take no prisoners, won't spare no lives: Nobody's puttin' up a fight: I got my bell, I'm gonna take you to hell: I'm gonna get you, Satan get you: Hell's Bells"

Blasphemy of Hollywood.  Blasphemy of radio shows.  Blasphemy of TV shows.  Blasphemy of the office party.  Blasphemy of the next door neighbor.  Blasphemy of ...

Sadly, blasphemy is not limited to rock and roll, country music, rhythm and blues, rap or any other music type.

Bon Voyage

Blasphemy is not limited to the music industry...

SO LET'S ROCK!!!

LET'S CHRISTIAN ROCK!!!

Are you saying that there might be something wrong with secular rock, or secular music in general?

Rock is dead and Christian rock is awful.

James Rondon

I would agree. But why is rock "dead"? And why is "Christian rock" awful?

When the rock bands that are around are some hip-hop hybrid or pop group, and the Rolling Stones are the best sellers at the box office, rock is most certainly death.

"Christian Rock" is awful because it is contrived, at least that is my opinion.

Big Mike Lewis

I don't think you've heard the most recent Christian rock...I happen to like it.

All of the ground is sinking sand
A doubting maze of desert land
Where darkness rules the heart of man
Til' the sun shines light on him

Lord of all,
Show you're strong
All my needs they fall

Chorus:
Be a cornerstone
Be a cornerstone
Be a rock, higher than I
Be my fortress wall
Be a foundation for all,
My cornerstone

The building's swaying in the wind
The towers crumble down again
This certainly will be the end
Of them not built on him

Lord of all
Show your strong
All my needs they fall

(Chorus)

You
You are the builder of my heart
You
Held me together from the start

(Chorus)

"Cornerstone" by Day Of Fire

Bon Voyage

I did say it was my opinion.  I am not casting holy judgement upon Christian Rock
