QuoteI am a simpleton and have been a hypocrite at times, I make no other claims. But I do strive to hold all I do in the integrity of Jesus Christ.

It's not shameful to have a dirty face, but refusing to wash is childish.

You are tossing about accusations of blasphemy.  Do you even care if what you're saying is true?

What I see in these songs is clearly blasphemous, to contrive their meanings into something else would be disingenuous and hypocritical.

Our perceptions are not always reality.  We must be careful when considering to make accusations of blasphemy.

"I heard this album as finished, I heard it in dreams . . . It was like the revelations of John the Baptist or something."

No he isn't.

He may in other lyrics, I don't know, not being a fan and frequent listener of his.

Nothing in that particular quote you just quoted urges anybody to do anything.  It's a narrative, a description of the state he's in.  Might just as well say that a teen's little brother, wetting his pants during potty training and reporting it to the teen for help, is in fact the baby urging the teen to wet his pants.

The silence is deafening.

I already told you what I consider true, and you rejected my answer. I have nothing else to say.

One of Marilyn Manson's t-shirts reads in large red letters — KILL GOD, KILL YOUR MOM & DAD, KILL YOURSELF. In smaller, harder-to-read letters, the shirt reads:

"Warning, the music of Marilyn Manson contains messages that will KILL GOD In your impressionable teenage mind, as a result you could be convinced to KILL YOUR MOM & DAD, And eventually in an act of hopeless Rock and Roll behavior you will KILL YOURSELF.  Please burn your records while there is still hope".

My suspicion is that csloan has not read all of the lyrics to all of the songs he has cited.  My suspicion is he is getting his information from a website and copying and pasting here.  My suspicion is that he's not necessarily concerned with whether what he's posting is true or not.  My suspicion is that he has no problem taking things out of context if doing so provides support for his position.

BTW -- It's not really necessary to copy and paste one Marilyn Manson thing after another.  Mr. Warner is well-known as being anti-Christian.  He does what he does in order to deliberately aggravate people like you -- and you fall into it hook, line, and sinker.  The rest of the world, btw, has stopped paying attention to him, which is why his record sales of late are worse than Zamfir's.

Just to let you know your evil surmising are incorrect. Some of the quote are from a website, and of course I am copying and pasting (since I'm not going to type this stuff out by hand...) But for you to suggest I am doing this to sow discord or to be divisive is just accusatory and judgmental.

The context of these quotes are are irrelevant, and putting them into a fuller context wouldn't dilute or extinguish the evil they promote. But I invite you to defend the context of the Kurt Cobain and Marilyn Manson quotes that promote killing your parents, or worshipping Satan.

His responses to me have made that quite clear.  I think it's best if I treat his posts on the subject exactly the way I treat the musicians he's quoting --- ignore them.

I like that one.  I've heard Pentecostals say the exact same thing about dancing in church, jumping over pews, and speaking in tongues.

I don't get it.

This is EXACTLY what y'all are saying these howwibul evil rock & rollers are trying to do!

Why are you upset if MM has a shirt like that?  Don't you just consider it truth in advertising?

CSloan

"I don't know if anyone has really understood what we're trying to do. This isn't just about shock value . . . that's just there to lure the people in.  Once we've got em we can give em our message."

~Marilyn Manson to Hit Parader, Oct. 1996

Bon Voyage

Obviously, Marilyn Manson isn't a Christian, and therefore will be going to the other place when he dies.

We don't need anymore quotes.

CSloan

"We cannot say this enough. We are not a 'Christian' band. We have no agenda to lead others to believe in our specific beliefs. Drug use is allowed in the band, but nothing more than you could grow in your own back yard. And I love women.

CSloan

"We've always just had a positive message. I grew up listening to Slayer, Celtic Frost and Metallica. The last thing I ever thought was people would say I was in a Christian band. After a while of us going, No, we're not... no, we're not... no, we're not, it got to a point there was not much more we could say or do aside from coming out with satanic T-shirts onstage.

CSloan

Rebelling against his Christian upbringing, Scott Stapp of Creed says:

"God wasn't revealed to me for 17 years of my life. God was revealed to me when I went away from that and had my own experiences. God was revealed to me through humanity and nature and everything that's around us.

Bon Voyage

Michael Card on CCM:

"The lyrics of a good number of the songs don't betray anything specifically Christian —they may have some moral message, but not a lot of the big songs are identifiably Christian. . . 'What happens to the message when we start getting the music to as many people as possible?' There is an essential part of the gospel that's not ever going to sell. The gospel is good news, but it is also bad news: 'You are a sinner, and you are hopeless.' How is a multimillion-dollar record company going to take that? That's a part of the message, too, and if that's taken out—and it frequently is in Christian music— it ceases to be the gospel." (Can't Buy Me Love, Christianity Today, May 20, 1996, p. 25)

Bon Voyage

"Why do we IDOLIZE Christian singers and speakers? We go from glorifying musicians in the world, to GLORIFYING Christian musicians. It's all idolatry! . . . Satan is getting a great victory as we seem to WORSHIP these ministers on tapes and records, and clamor to get their autographs in churches and concert halls from coast to coast." (Keith Green, from the Tract, "So You Wanna Be A Rock Star")

The following song lyrics are from a song by Phillips, Craig, and Dean and illustrates looking at Jesus as a lover:

And I'll stand in awe of You, Jesus
Yes, I'll stand in awe of You
And I'll let my words be few
Jesus, I am so in love with You

What's wrong with telling the Lord that one loves Him. I tell Him gladly that I love Him. The bible calls Him the lover of our souls.

I can see a few parts of www.jesus-is-savior.com, but I can't see some parts of it. I can't override the filter though, I give other people the passwords. Just to help keep myself accountable.

Careful, Gary. Posting a link to that site, and posting some of the quotes you have posted may not be well received by some.
