Hi...I was just thinking ::pondering::...
It's not as if I am heading to the hills any time soon but I can't remember how one closes an account with the forums.  Could you please spell it out for me?  Thanks.
With warm regards,
Michael ::tippinghat::

Charles Sloan

I suppose you'd undo all the information it was up to you to provide -- blank out your profile etc.; I haven't thought about it.  Will find out.

I do know Admin doesn't want people to be able to remove themselves in such a way that you can't tell it was them that said whatever they said in a thread from when they were here.  In other words, a closing of an account will not equal totally deleting yourself.

You're not leaving us are you?

No Charles.  I honestly believe that the stories I have posted is something that God desires me to do.  I know that I have said that before.  I know for a fact that if I was to quit what I am doing here I would have no peace about it.  I am very sure about that.

I find that I must wait on God for inspiration.  Usually a story/recollection, call it what you may, forms in my mind and stays there. These stories are real life blessings in my life--no fiction here.  To me that is an indication that that story is the next one the Lord desires me to write about.  I am not the greatest storyteller in the world, in fact I regard my writing as simplistic and easy to read.  Maybe that's the way God wants it--simple enough that anybody can get it the first time around.

There is a story that I honestly desire to write about.  However, I feel I should wait a while before putting that one on the board.  Due to the nature of the subject matter to write about it prematurely--in other words ignoring God's leading as to when to write--would probably be problematic for me in my personal life.  You see, I have shared the twelve 'God stories' (I am not sure where that title came from...probably me) with other people and they know who mikeyjc is.  The cat's out of the bag, so to speak.   For the most part I don't mind that but this one story I am anxious to tell has me hestitant.  I'll just have to pray about that one.  I can't afford to make a mistake with this God story.

I don't mean to be mysterious here or leave you guessing.  Suffice it to say that I am still impressed with GCM and especially these forums.  There is a reason why I never ventured to check out other Christian forums.  When you have discovered cherry cheesecake why look for jello?

Anyway Charles I thank you for taking the time to reach out to me and that's what we really do with each other here, isn't it?  I will admit that when it comes to forums in general, whether they be Christian or sports etc.,  my participation is limited.  I still feel like a rookie at all this.  I am actually learning the ropes as I go along.  That might sound silly to you vets out there but conversing with strangers is still a new thing to me.  I still say the big difference between a sports forum and a Christian forum is we can be real here.  There's always risks with that.  Peer pressure?  Sometimes among regular posters I wonder if that exists?

O gee...I am rambling on here.  Take care Charles.  You know something I still think that if I never meet you in person, some day in Glory I think I will see you and know that it's you.  The others too.  Amazing, eh?

Yeah, I can see it now...Saints talking among themselves and asking, "Who's that bunch over there?"  ::groupprayer:: ::amen!::
"Oh, them?  That's the GCM crowd.  They're still discussing stuff and having fun!"
Good night Charles.  God bless.  It's been a pleasure chatting with you.
As always,
From north of the border,
Michael  ::tippinghat::

Oh Janine please...I'm getting wet! ::intherain::
Seriously...I haven't bought a one way train ticket out of here...I was just wondering how shutting down an account was done.
I did have something in mind but I've deep six'ed it.
Encouragement, acceptance, fellowship-- it is all here on GCM forums.  You can be serious, you can be funny, you can be 'quiet' or totally VOCAL!
Thanks for your posts.  They are not taken for granted.
Good night from the Frozen North.  From the local weather forecasts it doesn't look too good right now!

I lived in the northwest corner of Iowa for about 8 years, on the bluffs above the Missouri.  I miss the cold and the snow, often.

But I do not miss the third or fourth month of cold and snow, and I don't miss the grey slush that fills February and March most years.

I still haven't figured out how to close an account -- I have been running the roads too much today.  If someone doesn't post about it tonight I will tomorrow.

Any movement on this thing?
Thanks.

I don't know because moderator's don't seem to have that option.  That is a question for the admin.  You might want to pm him.

Hah!  I have a secret desire to thwart you leaving, that must be why I forgot to get back to you on this!

That's okay Janine...no problem.  I honestly am not thinking of quitting the forums.  I am very content here.  Maybe I can pm you later about what is really on my mind.  Maybe you can make a suggestion.
Thank you for your post here.

To answer the question, accounts may be emptied of information but not deleted. That's so that old posts are not deleted and so that it makes since when someone reads the old posts and people are discussing things. So if someone is leaving, they would just blank out their profile (except for the username) and go. There's really no advantage to having your account completely deleted anyway as it's your choice to ever visit or even log in. But it does say in the registration agreement that once you post here, that content becomes property of GCM to keep. And that's just so that discussions are not disjointed and confusing.

Hope that helps. God bless!
