Each one of us was under the sentence of death (Romans 6:23).  Each of us deserved the judgment of death before a holy God.

Are you glad God gave you a reprieve?

What connection does this have with the death penalty?

I have small children.  I am for it.

Are you saying that having small children makes the Death Penalty law okay with God?

God ordered the Jews to kill those nations (women, children, and all) that stood in the way of Israel, and who would do her harm later.  As a father, I believe I have a sprinkling of understanding of what lengths a father would go to, to protect his children, family, and neighbors/brethren.

I am not always in support of the US Justice system, with some getting false imprisonment, and others getting off on a technicality, but when there is no shadow of a doubt that someone molested a child or brutally killed someone, I think death should be swift and severe.

Gary, as you know the Jews were God's chosen and when Israel was a physical nation He had them fight against the enemies. We would have been the enemies back then...also.

Yes, aren't you?

Again, IMO, everyone is dodging the elephant in the middle of the living room...

If we cannot met out capital punishment because it is not specifically permitted by the NT, exactly what kind of punishment is allowed? [Of course, for internal/eternal issues of church discipline there are options, but those are not really applicable to nonbelievers...]

We can rightfully proclaim that the unrighteous will be judged and punished by our Lord, in the Great By-and-By, but I don't thing that our secular electorate has that kind of patience... ::frown::

It's a matter for the World.  Christians need to stay out of it.
