I like The Gospel of John movie...  ::smile:: better than the passion of Chirst. I dunno, maybe because its longer and very close to the Bible? xD

marc

I agree.  I've only seen bits of the Matthew movie, but I like the Jesus in the John movie better.  Even though I keep wondering if he's going to find Penelope....::lookaround::

I actually like the Jesus portrayal in the Matthew movie better. The charisma and encouraging, accepting attitude the actor (I think it was Bruce Marchioni) assumed strikes me as appropriate for Jesus.

Interestingly, which Jesus portrayal we like I think depends more on our own personality and what we need most from Jesus, rather than what the historical Jesus was actually like.

Jaime

I agree Mike. Marchiano's depiction of Jesus, Man of Joy in the Mathew film was very inspiring to me, and I prefer to believe Jesus had that personality rather than the personality we have seen throughout history in the movies and still pictures. I don't believe Jesus was a meek person walking in a flowing gait as in someone practicing for a beauty contest. He was a gregarious, rugged carpenter that enjoyed a good time, I believe. I will never forget the image of him healing that lepor and laughing and rolling around on the ground celibrating with the healed man.

Kiara

Wow... I havnt seen the Matthew version yet. I'll look for it right now xD

What about Jesus in "Jesus Christ superstar"?

I like musicals but something about that movie is creeping me out. I'm not sure, but the movies ok and I sometimes listen to the soundtract.  ::juggle::

I really want to see the Jesus, man of joy portrait xD

It's probably them leaving Jesus hanging on the cross...

Actually, as I recall, Jesus was a rather minor character in the movie and play, which is to be expected, as in the play the writer ripped off, Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, the title character played a rather minor role...

James Rondon

1. Jesus of Nazareth
2. The Gospel of John
3. The Passion of the Christ

Depending on the day, and my mood, they could easily be reordered.

Big Mike Lewis

The Passion of the Christ

The smiling Jesus in Matthew is just so fake.

I also like this Jesus:

Was Jesus in Dogma?  I know God was and an apostle, but I don't remember Jesus.  Except the "Buddy Jesus" thing.

Not unless you count Alanis playing God as an appearance.  I need to buy that movie.

My personal favorite is The Last Temptation of Christ, it really makes you think about what he had to go through and the different thoughts which may have crossed his mind.

That movie is nothing short of blasphemy.

Heres the video you recommended, I found the whole movie online:

Out of the ones I've seen so far,
Favorite:  Jesus of Nazareth
2nd:        The Gospel of John (I liked the way Jesus' personality was portrayed- gentle, understanding, happy..)
3rd:         The Passion- very touching to the Spirit despite the subtitles and language barrier

Couldn't stand 'The Greatest Story Ever Told'  the portrayal of Jesus came across as he was ticked off, annoyed and consistently troubled and doubting himself- definitely not the Lord I read about in my Bible!
