Online Dating Sites

How many of you have tried an online matchmaking service?  If so, were you pleased with the results?  Would you recommend the service to others?  I know two couples who have met through eharmony and ended up getting married.  Both are still together, though one seems to be struggling right now.  What has your experience been?

I use dating sites because I am too scared to talk to women in person.

Women on secular sites find me too conservative and too "square;"  whereas women on Christian sites find me too liberal and not spiritual enough :(

So I sort of don't fit in on any of the sites. :(

i think i would be too scared to try a dating site. i mean, on the internet, you just NEVER KNOW who you're really talking to! besides, words and intentions can be misconstrued when conveyed on computers, so once you get to know someone online and are ready to meet in person, you might find that the person you meet in real life is not the same person you talked to on the internet. that's just my take on it, although i do know of one christian couple who met on eharmony.com and are happily married with a new baby boy.

Meeting someone on the internet can  be very scary.  With those relationships it's best to take it slow, really really slow becuase on the internet people can be as fake as they want to be.  The only way you will really know someone is to meet them and spend time with them.

I  am English and I met my husband thorugh a christian dating site (it is only for the UK), and we have now been married for three years and are very happy
It is a second marriage for both of us, and we are now in our early 50's. My son, who is 30 has recently met a lovely Christian girl on another British dating site, and they are very happy and I feel she may be 'the one'.

As in the church generally, at least in the uk, the women on these sites usually out number the men, especially the older you get. I think by the time you are middle aged, it is about 4 women to one man, and as men generally seem to want younger women this makes it worse, but God can and does use these sites to bring people together. For me, as I was in my late 40's then, I didnt know a single available Christian man of anywhere near my age and this is why I tried this online dating.

Dont be afraid of trying it, as long as you are careful, and watch out for scammers, you should be ok. You never know. However I was on different sites for 2 years so it can take time, so dont give up after a few weeks
