Greetings in Christ,

I am a 56 year old woman with a son 19 by my previous marriage. I have met a man who is 52 and never married, who would like to have children.  Do you think I am too old for Artificial Insemination and would it be Biblical?

Thanks,

Dee

I would highly suggest you consider fostering (or adopting?) older children (or surrogate grandparenting?) who need Godly parents.  (This isn't a game so be sure you consider yourself qualified enough to invest in these precious lives.)   Just with the math alone, assuming the artificial insemination is successful right away, your baby will enter his/her teenage years when you are entering your twilight years.   The issue of this being biblical may not the issue (the bible does not address this directly, though a number of older families had kids!) - consider the source of the desire for a baby.  Selfishness is "biblical" (as it is discussed in the bible) but always in a negative sense!

Dee, on the prayer request section you mentioned you needed prayer to leave a husband of twenty years who is abusive.  If you are in the process of doing that at this time, then another marriage should not even be an option on the table for you right now.  I always tell people who are going through a divorce to wait at least two years before they even think about remarriage in order to sort things out in their own life.  (Some don't listen, but most people think it is wise advice).

Since I think it is way too soon for you to be considering getting remarried, I think artificial insemination is definitely out of the question right now.  Just my two cents.
