Well, Christmas is almost here, and I'm pretty sure I'll be all alone for the holidays as usual. I realized one day that I never date anyone on the most important days like Christmas and Valentines day and whatever other days are important for couples. It's funny because all through high school I was never really focused on dating. Now that I'm 21 I guess that I am actually realizing how lonely i really am and how lonely I feel as hard as it is for me to except it. But I made a vow a few weeks ago that I won't get into another relationship or talk to someone because of the stress that it brings and the fact of me bringing the wrong worthless guys in my life. But I still want to be held and cared for. I just wish for once that I could get the one guy to show me that all the others aren't the same.

I've been the same way with women. I just have such poor judgment when it comes to picking a wife. That's why I have chosen to stay single after two miserable marriages. Of course, I'm a lot older than you and can do that more easily. Of course, in my opinion, being alone and lonely is better than being miserable with the wrong person. Been there, done that.

You are so right Jon Marc, why be with someone and be miserable when the point of having a relationship or marriage is to be happy.

Hey you guys... if you want to be thankful that you are not with anyone on Holidays... go read my post in General discussion (Family events) about how my Thanksgiving went!  Embrace your freedom to do or be where you want.  ::groupprayer::

Hi , I want you to know that you are loved...deeply loved by God. The people in this forum are your friends.
The holidays are a tricky time because the media promotes family togetherness as families are increasingly breaking up more and more.

I have a sister in christ who is just as close as my blood sister,I truly see them as the same. As christians we are to form our own families, it has nothing to do with blood.

see Acts 4:32. Any lonely Christian is a sin on the part of others(myself included) not embracing them. Use this forum as your friends and I will pray God bring you more friends in the flesh. Remember friends become family when in Christ

Hey,

I will be alone for the holidays too...eh, well...I mean I will be spending my holidays with my family, but just once I want to be with someone too.  I am so lonely and it's actually depressing.  I'm in my last year of university and I'm 22 and still haven't found anyone.

I was actually crying last night too because of the loneliness...haha, and I'm a guy.  Maybe the stress of finals is getting to me  ::lookaround::  I also feel like when I go to church, no one breaks out of their little groups to welcome anybody, so I don't feel embraced.  This is probably why I don't go to church much :(

yep, definitely feel the same way. I keep praying that the right guy walks into my life, but i figure he's just too stubborn to ask for directions... hehe. Oh well, we shouldn't get depressed, just celebrate Jesus' b-day with Jesus.

I've been alone at holidays too, and that was in my darks days, before I had the consolation that comes from being a servant of God.

Please don't let it get you down.  Try to see God at work in your life, and keep on studying the Bible.

Be encouraged... God can give you rest in any situation.  Just last week I went to a "girls night out" dinner at my cousin's house.  She has been a Christian single mother for years...  Her son is grown now and joined the military. (Hoorah!)...  she lives in this little bungalow house out in the country, outside of a small town.  It was nice and decorated so cute. A tiny house that just fit the small group we were.  We talked about it, and how cute it is, and how she needed to turn it into a time share that each one of us can go and spend a weekend alone to just be.  She told us, she loves her life.  She has no loneliness... I suspect she faced that years ago. She has contentment and peace there.  She just loves her life.  And it was evident in her home, and the things she did for us, and just in the peace she carries.

I'd say, do not ask God to change your situation until it is time, but ask him to send you overwhelming PEACE and comfort in that situation that you too may be a witness to others as to what God can do in your life.  Speak peace to yourself... literally.  I have done that so many times in my life.  I just whisper "PEACE" to myself.  God is Peace... and when you call upon Him, He is there.  You are His child, and He has never left you nor will He... we need to learn to LET GOD just fill our lives so that what the world needs in times of solitude is not what we need.  What we have from God is what they really need, and I pray that for each of you, that your PEACE will shine out to each one of them, single or not as you go through this Holiday Season with the GOD of all filling ALL of the empty places.

I understand how you feel...I, too, will be alone for the holidays.  The holidays are kindof hard for me because this is around the time that the love of my life (who I lost) and I started dating.  It has been a year since we broke up, and the holidays are not easy.  They kindof serve as a reminder of what I had and lost.  So I am a little sad.  But, there were things in that relationship that were damaging, so I don't miss that stuff.  Maybe it is better to be alone if the relationship is not totally happy.  But I sympathize, it is hard finding the right guy.  I am 30 and I still haven't found him!

mind you I will be with my parents, and siblings.  But at 35 I am still the only single person there.  Heck my 2 year old nephew has his first girlfriend.
