Jesus  sermons would not be very pleasant his double edge sword would at first cut us all to the quick with our sins. leaving us  with no hope left in us to to survive .
but then the other side of the blade applying a healing save would come to those who are repentent that save his love and  mercy and forgivness.

  his hands his feet his side show how he  won for us from God our forgivness.

Mathew 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

Luke 24:47
47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said “Repent,” he intended that the entire life of believers should be a life of repentance.

1 Corinthians 2:2
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified

1 Corinthians 1:23
but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

Isaiah 53
1 Who has believed our message
       and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
       and like a root out of dry ground.
       He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
       nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by men,
       a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
       Like one from whom men hide their faces
       he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he took up our infirmities
       and carried our sorrows,
       yet we considered him stricken by God,
       smitten by him, and afflicted.

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
       he was crushed for our iniquities;
       the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
       and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
       each of us has turned to his own way;
       and the LORD has laid on him
       the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
       yet he did not open his mouth;
       he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
       and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
       so he did not open his mouth.

8 By oppression [a] and judgment he was taken away.
       And who can speak of his descendants?
       For he was cut off from the land of the living;
       for the transgression of my people he was stricken.

9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
       and with the rich in his death,
       though he had done no violence,
       nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
       and though the LORD makes [c] his life a guilt offering,
       he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
       and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

11 After the suffering of his soul,
       he will see the light of life [d] and be satisfied [e] ;
       by his knowledge [f] my righteous servant will justify many,
       and he will bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, [g]
       and he will divide the spoils with the strong, [h]
       because he poured out his life unto death,
       and was numbered with the transgressors.
       For he bore the sin of many,
       and made intercession for the transgressors.

1 Timothy 1:15
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.

Very interesting, to me if we didn't know it was Jesus, as soon as He started preaching to truth probally half of the people would leave, but Jesus would continue until the ones who stay would be drawn to Him. Sorry to say we need more Pastors, to preach the same way.

Amen. And it would be interesting to me, to see if Jesus would ask for tithe and offerings, or tell those who stayed to "go and give"

Most of us would feel so uncomfortable with Jesus' preaching that we would either leave the church or repent and get our lives right after He pointed out everything that's wrong in each of our lives. We can hide things from the pastor and other people, but we can't hide anything from God.

In the days He walked the earth and was hated and despised by most, it would be the same again.
I like the Isaiah 53 quote yet not many see Jesus as he really was.  He said I come not to bring peace but a sword. That spiritual sword cuts deep right to the very heart of all things.
We have people describing God as some kind of earthly grandpa who dotes and smiles at our sins.  I don't think He is amused.

True.  On the other hand, though, it's good to know The Great Physician can accurately diagnose the ills of the soul.

Do you think if Jesus came again, we would crucify Him?

Yes, most would.  As some of the Jews, they wouldn't believe He was the Christ, the Saviour of the World.  Others would find fault with Him as the politicians did. I think many wouldn't want to live like the Sermon on the Mount prescribes.

What would I have done.  I can only hope I would have believed.

Jon-Marc

Well, He WILL be coming again, and He won't be crucified. I'm sure mankind would if they could, but He will coming as a reigning King and not a suffering Saviour.

Very good thought.  I too feel like the challenging and radical aspects of giving up one's life to follow Christ have been severely desensitized by most Christians.  By this I mean that it seems as if Christians as a whole have mutually consented to following a Christianity that it less intrusive and demanding.  Many of my friends who are "active

Sad to say, I think many would.

Where I go now I think He'd fit in fine but, some of the churches I've attended in the past might just write Him up in the paper as a false teacher.    The test to that is does the church you attend preach love and service or rules and regulations.  The ones that want a list and want to judge and condemn others who don't do exactly what THEY think wouldn't care for Jesus pastoring but the ones who love to hear the message of love and grace would be so filled with gratitude.

What's his position on MDR?  IM?  baptism?  free will?   Is he married?  are the kids faithful?

Tape of his sermon?

Probably would be rejected as a candidate.

Up to the point where he introduced himself as the pastor.

Its sad when Jesus himself doesn't fit the bill of what we've come to think we need, isn't it?
