don't know much about all of this but what is the significance of the year

2012 regarding the mayans. Supposed all of the talk about the end of the world or something in 2012 because of something with the mayans. Read something about a calendar.  Just kind of wondering the significance of the mayans in history if there is any

A simple Google search will provide a wealth of knowledge.

Some folks think 2012 is the end of the world, but that is not what the Mayan "prophecy" requires. It does seem to indicate some significant events, but the end of the world is an extrapolation.

At least, that's what my south of the border Native American friends tell me.

yeah right after posting this I looked oup info on it. Before I looked up info on it all I heard in relation to it was the end of the world. I guess people like to jump to conclusions on things. I read on a site it's like the whole y2k thing and it seems a lot like it. Of course nothing happened during y2k though.

Actually, Microsoft distributed Windows Millennium Edition, which almost destroyed the world.
