I went to over 18 denominations of churches claiming to be "Bible Churches" previous to being Catholic.

I still do not know why they called it a bible church, since they did not have any seats for bibles, and most of the seats were filled with humans????

I always wondered when i was little, if they worshiped the bible at churches like these.
I would think that would be idolatry, but thats just me.

I certainly love the contents of the Bible, all 73 books. I have read through it a few times and still have not found where it says we should worship it, or use it as our sole authority.

I do know that the Bible contains the Word of God(Tradition) in writing, and that we are also to look to the oral Tradition of the church as handed down by Jesus and the apostles. we certainly see this in 2 thess 2:15 and in corinthians.

I am glad that scripture does not condemn Tradition. It seems only to condemn traditions of men which nullify the Word of God. I certainly can see how someone claiming scripture alone as their sole authority could be a tradition of man which nullifies the Word ofGod, especially since scripture itself does not teach it, nor did anyone previous to Luther claim it. the divisions it has caused in the past 500 years is unprecedented.

I hope someday that the people will once again be of one mind, one Flock and One Shepherd.

This quote isnt from the rev Father  Dr Luther.
perhaps you will listen to A Roman Catholic   Pope

He  will help you understand why the bible is so "supreme".

As the Word , the second person of the Trinity , being of the same essance with God ,became true man in Jesus , but with out sin , so also Gods word Holy scriptures is truly human in its various forms of speech with the exception of errors and mistakes.
(quoad omina humani assimilia facta sunt ,excepto errore.)
pope Pius X11 1876-1958

John 1:1

John 1
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Psalm 119:104-105

104 I gain understanding from your precepts;
therefore I hate every wrong path.

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.

Old enough to know that calling a place of worship a "bible church" is certainly unbiblical. I am allowed to have a little fun with my protestant brothers and sisters, and hopefully help them to examine there practices and beliefs a bit closer.

Using your line of reasoning, you as a "papist" must worship Catholics, as you are part of the Catholic church.

Please explain to me how using the term "papist" as a username in a discussion room , connects me with worship of catholics?

Do you know what a papist is? A papist is any person who gives their allegience to Christ and the only Church He ever instituted. The term papist was used by the revoltists in the 16th century labeling those who did not follow the revoltists new and man made religions.

I've never heard of anyone who worships the Bible as a physical object. Are you saying you have?

Are you saying that the Word of God is somehow confined to the Bible?

Why would you name a church after a book, and not after the one who authored the book, namely, God Himself?

You are splitting hairs to try and jusitify something that is entirely unbiblical.

Show me in scripture where anyone named a church "bible church"?

After all, if scripture is your sole authority, then it must be IN scripture in order to be correct in practice, right?

Show me in the bible where anyone named a church "Catholic."  Why would you name a church after a person, such as James or Mary, etc.

You still haven't responded adequately about how your misuse of logic points out that you worship "Catholics."

Then you're old enough to know better than to advance such ridiculously silly logic and then try to defend it seriously.

But Maybe apostolic successors are actually apostolic and go around founding churches and raising the dead?

Perhaps a papal conclave is where all the various popes gather?

Is a papal indulgence when the pope eats the whole carton of Ben & Jerry's?

How do you fit the whole universe inside the universal church?

Is the college of cardinals full of bright red birds working towards their degrees?

Jesus told me the Christian bible was the written Word of God.  I would say that any teaching that contradicts that Word is not of God.

I read a post today defending people of the Jehovah Witness religion. That defense really opened my eyes into why there is so much disparity between people that read the Christian Bible.

Most people study the words.  They then apply their own understanding to those words. Next they convince others to their understanding, and away we go.

To stop this from happening the Catholic Church tells their people its way is right, because they are the true church of God.  As such only the Catholic Churches understanding is right.  Other churches build up the theologian that gave them their understanding, make the theologian or founder some kind of prophet or supper intelligent person.

Christianity is not a mind game.  One cannot come to know God by studying the Word of God, nor listening to some one tells him or her about God.

Christianity is a Spiritual walk.  One needs to have an indwelling of the Holy Spirit and a personal relationship with Jesus, in order to understand and live the Word of God.

so are you saying that you have the Holy Spirit and have a perfect and unequalled interpretation of scripture that no one else has? After all, the Holy Spirit is God, and if you claim to have the Holy Spirit leading you in your interpretation of scripture, then it must be perfect and inerrant.

please, help us learn oh master of the Bible. lol

You know, there are over 35,000 denominations that believe just as you, yet they most likely have different intepretations of scripture.

Where in the bible did Jesus tell us that we only needed a relationship with him and a book for Truth?
Where did the earlyu Christioans operate like this in the book of acts? Did they go to the book aslone, or did they nromatively go to the earthly leaders of the Church Christ appointed for answers?

It seems your idea of Christianity is unbiblical.

But you have not lost the anointing that he gave you, and you do not need anyone to teach you, the anointing he gave teaches you everything; you are anointed with truth, not with a lie, and as it has taught you, so you must stay in him. There is a need to differentiate between Word of God in John 1 (which is Christ himself) and word of God as in the Bible.

You cannot worship the Bible for you become guilty of bibliolatry.   We worship that which Scripture proclaims (the Triune God) but we reverence the Holy Scripture because it is the Word of God.
