I'm new here, I feel kinda hurt 2nite and wanted to search for answers for my girlfriend.---

I'm 27 and just started dating a 35 year old woman (single/no kids from either of us).  We've known each other for about a month now, both of us have been divorced (I was last year, she was 3 years ago).  I fell in love with this woman, I have never met a girl before that I could actually talk to, enjoy conversations with and have so many similar interests in.  The relationship did go too fast,  I allowed things to go too far and I knew better than that, but now here we are having an open sexual relationship, not living together either.  I do see marriage and interested in pursuing it, I think she has that same feeling too.  Although tonight we had a discussion on churches and "saved", that has me feeling bummed and nervous.  I am a born again christain, I have been raised in a pentecostal spirit feeled church.  Jennifer was raised in a Catholic church, then quit going several years back, she just started attending a wed bible study at a non denominational church, I was introduced to her by her mom through my mom.  We absolutely HIT IT OFF!!! it was amazing, the conversations we have and things we want to do.  To anyone thinking this;  Yes I do feel conviction over our intimatacy, but yet its such a tough thing to avoid and not share, especially since we've experienced it several times now.  I do feel in my heart that I love her, and she told me the same.  Back to my original issue:  Not sure how we got into this talk, but it WAS bound to happen.  She doesn't seem to understand what "being saved" is ??? She asked me if there is some kind of ceremony you have to go through.  I said no, and I gladly gave her an example of a sinners prayer, but yet she was so very puzzled.  I wish I knew of scriptures to open up and share with her.  I don't want to be unequally yoked with someone, I guess thats why I'm hurting tonight after leaving her house, she seen it in my face and I'm sure she feels something too.  I was praying loudly my way home for God to speak to her heart and give her a desire to know him more and seek after him, conviction I guess.  Like I said, I love this woman, knew it before we got intimate---just never imagined meeting someone and falling in love with her so quickly!! I care so much about her and want to do whatever it takes to get her into a relationship with Jesus.  She is open for answers.   And is coming with me this Wed night for church service--God I hope her heart is open and the Lord speaks truth to her that night.  I just feel bad for getting so much of my emotions involved through sex and not waiting for God to work on her first then marriage.  Anyone else have this ??  I'm DEFINATELY open to scriptures from anyone that I can show her, she has a Catholic mentallity and I have a pentecostal walk.

-as a side note:  from what I learned from things she was saying,  it appears she believes that a person will get to heaven based on theyre good deeds---this is what it sounded like from what I was gathering---which I know to be totally wrong.  Jesus is the Only true way.  I asked her if she were to leave this earth now, would she make it to heaven and she said yes, but ???  something is off here--any Catholic based opinions on what I should show her in the bible ?  PLEASE any help is SOOOO much greatly appreciated.  Thankyou sooo much!!!

It's so important that she knows that it is through grace we are saved, and not through works.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph 2:8-9 (NKJ)

(Another version)
8 God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Eph 2:8-9 (NLT)

Keep praying about it!

I am sure that given time she will come to understand what real salvation if she is open to hearing it.Maybe she has never really heard about true salvation before.maybe all that she has heard is that we have to do this or that or obey a set of rules ot be saved.

However, in my opinion you DO need to stop the sex. if you are a born again Christian this WILL be affecting your relationship with God and  adversley affecting the relastionship with her as you are doing something that God has forbidden. It doesnt matter that it has happened a few times, you need to tell her that you are sorry that you did this, that God says not to do it, that it is only for marriage and  that it wont be happening again unless you eventually marry. Dont rush anything, you are both divorced and that takes time to get over and you have only known her for 4 weeks.

A young man who I know was just coming back to God and he got into a wrong sexual relationship with a girlfriend. He said that The Holy Spirit just withdrew during this time, and once he gave up this wrong sexual relationship, and the girl(who wasnt a Christian), that The Holy spirits presence returned. This convinced him never to do that again and he now has a lovely Christian girlfriend and they are waiting till marriage before they have sex, so really think seriously about this.

Thankyou all for the reply's, we did however manage to talk about abstinance and stopped.  The pressure was way to much, and I started to wake up and see the real differences between both of us, last night I ended up breaking up our relationship.  She believes she is right with the lord, but I KNOW without a doubt that she is confused.  Thanks again for all the good advice!!

Chillcat, you really are listening to the spirit of God, and I commend you for that. As hard as breaking off the relationship may have been, just allow God to direct your path and He'll sort it out!! Remember Romans 8:28!

Blessings
