Funny, I was thinking the same thing the other day, but couldn't think of anything worthy of posting  :D   I did have a good camping trip with my girls during \"Spring Break,\" however!!

Campin' pictures

You can also look at the pictures I posted from my trip later in the week with my boys down to my dad's retirement place on the South Carolina coast.  It was supposed to be a \"serious\" fishing trip, but the fish obviously didn't get the word.

I lived in blizzard country, not far from school but several icy blocks and a busy 4-lane road away.  My two oldest were in the early elementary and the state had just that year settled legal opinions re: homeschooling.  It looked marvelous, so we jumped right in.  We had any textbook, curriculum, field trip etc., supplied to us by the school district.  Daughter went up to the school for violin, son for phonics, & they came back after the one class.  Really enjoyed homeschooling.  Last American History I taught them was all about the War of 1812 and the Treaty of Ghent and Battle of New Orleans.  Amazing how you can develop a whole series of lessons out of one Johnny Horton song (\"In 1814 we took a little trip/Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip')  What fun we had!

They and their much younger brother are in public elem/high schools & a public university now, doing spectacularly in \"Honors\" this and \"Gifted & Talented\" that,  with grants and scholarships aplenty...  homeschooling obviously did well by them.

My sister's kids are all homeschooled, the oldest now in his 1st year of university with his cousin/my daughter.  They're doing wonderfully, too.

Perhaps this topic hasn't had a huge eager response because all the homeschool parents are busy right now with their kids singing about 'grabbing an alligator and fighting another round'.

Thanks, Lee.  I'll look forward to hearing how the fish were biting.

No disrespect intended, but you can keep the golf stories to yourself.

:)   Never quite got  the allure of that particular sport.

What happened to this section? I thought it was going to be big.

Sorry 'bout that.  Here I was the one who thought it would be neat to have this forum, and I haven't been here much at all!

My time online is much shortened these days, as I am single-parenting it while my Air Force husband has been deployed \"over there\" as a nurse anesthetist.  Needless to say, running a household with 4 kids is an intensive thing, with or without a husband to help, so my priorities have been a realigned a bit.  I will try to be here when I can, though!

Hey Jeff,

That fish that Tasha caught looks like good bait! But, congrats on her first fish. I am going to my brothers this weekend and we are going fishing. Last time we used crawfish to catch some catfish and a really pretty Sun Perch. This time I want some Crappie! Good eatin'.

The weekend will also include golf. Big shocker huh?
