Son of a Preacher Man

Wife and I rented this last night, too.  At the end I felt something missing from the film.  I can't say too much about what I thought was missing without giving anything away, but I did feel like things were unresolved for one certain character.

But the advantage of DVD is that sometimes they include the cut footage.  As I watched these 'deleted scenes' the element that had been missing was there--what I needed to feel a sense of resolution had been cut out of the movie!  It just goes to show how Hollywood can butcher a writer's story.  The directer even went on and on about how this "character" they cut out of the movie just didn't work, but the whole time we watched, wife and I were just getting more angry that they had cut this character out of the movie.

So, for the reasons Jerry mentioned I would not let young kids watch it.

For my reasons, I give it my second lowest rating: "Wait for Cable" (Meaning if you get a chance to watch for free it's not a complete waste of time.)  And it's not just 'cuz it's a chick-flick.  It's just a really hacked-up film.

I liked Sweet Home Alabama. I heard there was additional footage on the DVD that wasn't in the theatrical release, so sometime I plan to rent and watch it.  Reese's grandfather, who passed on a few years back, went to our church and was, I believe, a deacon at one time. He was a very sweet man, always smiling, with a kind word for everyone. He was so proud of her. I remember a conversation I had with him during a time that she was deciding between going to college and a contract offer Disney was making her -- (she opted for education).  I've never met her and don't know her personally at all, so my opinions are colored somewhat by my respect and admiration for her grandfather and the obvious, unabashed devotion he had toward her; that and the fact that she's a local gal.  :)

I really liked Legally Blonde too!

I just rented this with my wife because most of the movies she wants to watch are like running your nails down a chalkboard to me.  I am sure this is true of a lot of other husbands and wives.

It is a chick flick.  A love story if ya weeeeeel.  It was alright and something we could agree on. Don't wanna give too much of a synopsis don't wanna ruin the story for ya.

I would probably give it a B.  Its rated PG-13.  It does kind of have a little in there that makes it seem like homosexuality is ok and normal.  No nudity.  Can't think of a ton of swearing.

Bon Voyage

I didn't watch the deleted scenes so what was missing?

I liked Legally Blonde too...

I haven't seen "Sweet Home" yet. I don't know if I will...

It seems too "chicky".
