Well!!!  I thought (stupidly) that my fight against fornication (something I thought I only USED to struggle with) was over, but no sireee...the devil had different ideas last night.  Apparently I am still struggling.  I had a random "attack" from the enemy last night, if you will call it that.  Last night, as I was innocently sleeping in my bed, I got a text message from a male friend of mine.  It said simply "COME OVER"  well.  Let me start off by saying that it was 12:08 am.  Not a good place to start.  As we continued to text, certain things became BLATANTLY obvious.  Like, for instance, GEE, maybe this guy does not have the best intentions in mind!!!  I think his next text... "SEX AND GET YOU DRUNK" was if not the most obvious attack that the enemy has done on me lately.

Note to self:  I need to cut this guy out of my life.  Luckily, the enemy did not totally pull the wool over my eyes.

What happened next surprised me...  I prayed:  GOD< HELP ME!! I'm feeling really weak right now.  Like I might give in to this temptation.

I got up.  Got out of bed.  Sprayed some perfume.  Put on some clothes and started thinking : how am I going to sneak out of my house at 12:15 at night without my parents questioning me.  Bad thoughts.  I texted him back: "I'm coming over"

Then I got another text.  It was from a Christian friend of mine who was coming to see me the very next day.  God works in mysterious ways, and RIGHT ON TIME!!  Because the text message that my Christian friend wrote me was :  What song are you listening to right now?  I am listening to :  I Will Go the Distance, by the Martins.  Wow.  That text message stopped me in my tracks.  I thought to myself, I know how that song goes.  I know the words.  (I will go the distance, I will go that far, I will give up everything to meet them where they are...even though I could choose the path of least resistance, Father, I will take that Cross...I will go the distance)  The words of that song popped into my head as I was getting dressed.  Simultaneously, I also thought to myself:  Push those thoughts out of your head, Kristina, you are going to do this.  You are going over to Todd's.  I tried to muster up the courage to go.  I tried to reason with myself...you have come THIS far, why give up or hinder your walk NOW?          I continued to text message him.  I was actually about to leave my house and go over to his house, when the second "GOD/coincidence" happened.  I got a text from him "I moved" so I now did not know where he lived.  But my flesh was still determined!  So I asked him "where do you live?"  Then it was getting annoying...and I realized how stupid this was...and I got back in bed.  And I sent him a text message saying in response to one he sent me:  I will make out with you...but that's it.  I felt bad even saying that.  I felt conviction from God even then, because I did not know if a) I could stick to that b) this guy was going to try to get me drunk and I don't participate in drunken "revelries" anymore and c) just plain ole common sense tells me I should not do this!!!

So, what did I do?

I sent him a text message: Can't have sex.  Sorry.  Don't mean to be prude, but I don't have sex like this anymore.

Followed by:  My attitude has changed since becoming a Christian.  I'm one of those nuts now, lol, Sorry!!  Still love ya tho.

I am sooooo thankful that I had the guts, the courage, the stamina, and above all THE LORD to guide me thru that mess last night.

Praise the LIVING GOD!!!!!!

That is my testimony.  Hope it helps someone out there in this big ole messed up sinful world that we live in.

Please, singles, share your struggles with temptation... and don't be afraid to BE REAL about them....God wants us to BE REAL with eachother, not skirt around the issue and pretend that "everything is just fine, I'm a Christian, ladi-da" which really means nothing unless you help your brother or sister in Christ out and encourage them and lift them up.  Am I right?

Praise God.

::amen!::

P.S : We're nuts are we ? Lol
I used to think so...I used to think people who wanted to wait for Marriage because they were born again Christians, were...well...kindof strange.  Just like I thought raising hands was strange and shouting Halleluia, and speaking in tongues.

Before I found the Lord.  Now...not strange.  I think that was my flesh trying to "justify" things to him, or excuse the way I feel, by calling myself a nut.

Pretty silly huh.  I'm not a nut.  I was hoping to witness to my friend, in a way, by telling him I am a Christian and THIS is why I can't have sex outside of marriage.  I wanted him to definitely connect the two.  Partially becuz sometimes people end up giving Christians a bad name.  I wanted to connect "high moral standards" with "Christians".

AMEN?

Kristina :)

The prohibition about sex before marriage is for your benefit.

You do not want a calloused heart about matters like this.
It is really really important that you get that part of understanding. This guy who wants to have sex with you only wants to cheapen your worth. Not raise it like God has as well as your parents.

You are the Daughter of the most Powerful King in the world/universe. You are specially loved and cherished. Throwing that away is...obscene. There is more at stake here than an unplanned pregnancy or social disease. It is your heart and self worth.

I do understand the temtation and raging of hormones...and God (nor I nor your parents) are looking to be kiljoys in this...we want you to really enjoy sex for all it is worth...later when you are married.  And I ain't kidding about that...have a blast with it with your future husband who loves God as much as you do.

One day when you are older you will understand more completely what we are talking about...and if you have taken our advice and done as you had victory last night with...you will be much much happier for it.

Few tell this side of the story. Waiting pays off every time...not just some of the time...all the time.

I'm really glad to hear your testimony.  I totally messed my priorities up.  You're a good example, Kristina.

You ARE a good example -- especially of not only obeying God but proclaiming Christ. Lord, thank you for rescuing Kristina and giving her the help she needs. Please make her stronger, make her flesh weaker, and give her victory over sin every time.

Struggling with understanding what is right and wrong is one thing. Where we really get in trouble is KNOWING what is right, but then asking ourselves "am I going to do it, or not?"

I'm so excited for Heaven! And end to the fight :D but in the meantime, may God give us the strength to happily do what the world thinks is crazy, and obey Him WITHOUT a second thought.

(You're right about the making out, too -- it'd be just about as dumb and dangerous to do that, even if it didn't go further).

Hello everybody. This is my first time actually using this site and I wanted to comment to this post. Kristen, your post is a great one. It's good to tell of our struggles as well as our triumphs. As singles, it's hard and rather tempting to sin, but God's word says that He will make a way for you to get out of it. It's just up to us to take the way that God gives us. And I'm glad you were paying attention!

For my own personal story, I have been a Christian for well over a year now, and I have fell and have had my own struggles, but I love God and want to please Him and I quickly remember life without knowing Him and I dont want to go back. The first time, I hooked up with a guy and it was a whirlwind romance. Next, I met a guy who I knew from grade school. And, we acutally talked and then stopped talking. Maybe that was my first sign to no longer purse this thing. But nooooo, I had to go back in it to find out 'what happened?'. So, I called the guy, we went out, and afterwards, I had the obvious choice of going home, but I didnt, I went to his house. Well, long story short, we had sex. And sure, my flesh was mighty happy but my soul and spirit were not. And for a week or so, I kept trying to make this 'thing' work. I kept trying to make it 'make sense'. You know, trying to justify the sin. Well, God wouldnt let it work and I am so happy He was there through it all. I couldnt even pray in peace! I knew this wasnt right. So, after a week maybe, I told this guy that although I liked him and was happy we met back up, I could not continue a sexual relationship with him. I told him why and he seemed to be understanding, but he started to call me a hypocryite and other names. But I guess I had that coming, and really, it's ok, because I want to please God first before anyone else. And after that lesson, I KNEW I could not go there at all whatsoever UNLESS I am a married woman. I do my best to not put myself into any situation that will be overwhelming with temptation. And I have been celibate for almost 8 months now. And yes, it's still tempting (there were other issues that arised like masturbation, but God has helped me through that as well.). but I am at peace and I know this is what God commands of us to obey him. And the peace that God provides is so worth no doing anything just to please self and fall...
