It happens when your reply message gets lengthy, and when you try to type you can't see what you're typing anymore and it keeps scrolling out of place whenever you try to bring it back down.  Any suggestions - besides post shorter messages?  ::pondering:: Please help  ::frustrated::

So it's not just me ---it doesn't happen on any other forum or email just here!!
I asked awhile ago and never got an answer. Maybe I didn't leave it in the right
area.  I've just been living with it for a long time.

It happens frequently to me but I just though I was inept.  Guess I'm still inept but it has nothing to do with scrolling.

Yeah, that is so annoying!  And so are all the ads on every thread!  So much so that I'd be willing to chip in money with everyone who feels the same, so we can just buy an annual license for vbulletin and be done with it!  But that's just my opinion  ::rolling::

I've never noticed the ads!! Ha!   And I've gotten used to the scrolling problem - I think it bugged me once and then I checked my being bugged at the door and never was bugged again. "Oh well, so what", is a big phrase in my vocabulary.

In the process of debugging myself  ::crackup::

Nevertheless

I'm not sure I understand the problem. Are you saying that when your reply gets long enough (about 6 lines on mine) for a scroll bar to appear on the side of the reply box, the end of your post just disappears? So the scroll bar is locked to the top?

Does it still happen if you click on "preview" and the bigger box with the smilies above it appears?

That is just so odd.  Now that you're giving me attention on this particular problem that I've been running into repeatedly before... it somehow... isn't happening to me right now?   ::blushing::

Either I'm just gettin lucky or you're just that GOOD! hehehe!

I'll let you know ( ::announcment::) if it happens to me again...

Thanks a bunch!

Elaine

It is still happening to me and happened all of a sudden around May 30 or so.

It scrolls out of sight - but I continue to type blindly and then have to scroll down to make corrections and every correction it scrolls up to the top and I must scroll back down to make another correction ---good thing God gives me patience.

It is a mystery - since it happens nowhere else.
Are there any computer geeks that you could ask about it?

Thanks alot,
Elaine :)

Okay, it's been happening to me all day again!  Apparently, for me, it depends on which computer I am using.

This seems to be a problem with the new version of Internet Explorer (version 8).

I'm having the same problem.  And, it's affecting more than one forum I post on with the same issue.  But, I found something that at least temporarily fixes it.

Look up at your address bar at the top of your browser.  Just to the right of it (if you're running IE 8), you should see what looks like a broken page icon.  Hovering over that, it says, "Compatibility View."  When I click that, it apparently changes the browser to support "websites designed for older browsers."

Once I clicked that, my preview/editor window no longer jumps when I type in it.

Hopefully, this is some kind of glitch Microsoft will fix in later updates.

I did it but it didn't help mine ---that's why I quoted your post so as to be lower on the page and it was screwy immediately -oh well.   I'll try it again if that icon is still there.
Glad it helped you , Linda.  :)

Thanks DCR

Tried again and now it's ok. How do people even KNOW to do these things?
Rhetorical.

But now you all may be tortured by my longer posts.  ::crackup::

Hi Elaine!  ::smile::

I didn't have the icon at the top of my browser either.  If you can't see the icon, try going to the tools drop down menu at the top of your screen and make sure compatibility view is checked on the list.

Hope that helps!
