Hi, what are your favorite mainstreams movies that display a message that evil exists and if we play with fire we get burned therefore all glory to God even if they don't mention God? I'm looking for movies were good stands out in the end to conquer all the evil.

Thanks, God Bless

How sad is this?  It's been a couple days and there aren't any movies with "God conquering Evil" out there?  Oy.  Pretty sad.  Of all the outstanding stories in the Bible that could be put on the Big Screen, we get a zillion different ways to murder your fellow humans & people having sex with as many partners as possible before finding their 'one true love'.

Star Wars
Lord of the Rings
Chronicles of Narnia
Prince of Egypt
Gladiator
Ben Hur
James Bond series
V (for Visitor, not Vendetta)
Harry Potter series

Most any super hero film (Spider Man, Super Man, Fantastic 4, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Batman, etc.) all deal with good triumphing over evil.  As does almost any John Wayne movie, there was a man who certainly believed in clear definitions of good and evil, it's a common theme in many westerns.  A number of the old epic films dealt with it, like Ben Hur which I mentioned.

While it doesn't deal with good vs. evil, if you want a mainstream movie that is deeply spiritual and has a wonderful message, you should see Groundhog Day with Bill Murphy.

I noticed Star Wars was your first choice. tousch'e. lol

This could easily be thrown into the Philosophy section of this site, but I'll say it anyways.
It's said that 'good and evil' differ for every person. This is obviously a lie. Each religion's views on good and evil are in fact very similar. Of course, they need something to go off of in order to be considered 'valid' at all. So they take what's necessary on a moral standpoint and gain whatever ground they were hoping for. But what they take from is actually something that God put there initially. Any logical, intelligible person (moreover, any Christian) can trace this pattern back to something that doesn't change.

Star Wars (and even Final Fantasy), however Pantheistic it may be, does make it known to its (MASSIVE) audience that good should triumph over evil.

As I'm growing older, I'm learning to actually empathize, sympathize, or relate to someone of another belief system that tries to state that all religions are the same anyways. Instead of getting flustered or bitter, I take into account that...yes, we do have the same morals and values as...let's say a Buddhist, or a Muslim, in some cases even Wiccans, or a Jedi (for the sake of keeping this on the Star Wars topic here).

Now you wanna talk about a movie with a HUGE message (not necessarily Christian, but REALLY good nonetheless).
The Matrix Trilogy. Minus the "Free your mind"/Buddhist complex strewn throughout the series, it portrays the importance of knowing who you are, that you do have purpose in this life, and even when things seem so controlled and fabricated, you still have your very own choices to make, and those choices have the power to change everything for the better or worse. Excellent depiction.

I'll actually bust out V for Vendetta as well. Not a big fan of the Wachowski Brothers on a personal level, but they do have ever so few things running for them.
V for Vendetta, aside from the blatent attack of the conservative/Republican parties in this nation, portrays what trying to legislate into stone certain moral forms of lifestyles actually does to people.
This is why I don't label myself a republican (nor am I democratic). People push and push and push on abortion issues, gay/lesbian marriage issues, and even the stem-cell research issues. My deal is, if people want to mess up their lives, don't legislate against it. LET 'EM! Legsilating moral lifestyles will just make people rebel even more. Heck, they might learn from their mistakes if you let them go and be stupid. V for Vendetta resurfaced this lost idea to me, and I'm glad I watched it for that reason alone.

So yeah. Good topic. Let's keep it movin.

Hey thanks so much for mentioning Groundhog Day. I haven't seen that in years and boy was it GREAT. I love that movie. It's so unique.

I also want to thank all who have replied to me.

God Bless
