I finally watched Da Vinci Code, and it was utter tripe as I suspected.

It is all so stupid, it would bore me to death.

Wycliffes_Shillelagh

The movie is very blah.  The book is much better.

I have seen this book and movie derail, more than one new believers faith in the Lord.

On another Christian forum, some very young in the Lord, wrote saying they were confused  as to what was truth. I have seen nominal Christians, say " You mean you do not believe it?" I have seen people watch history channel who were strong in the faith wonder if Jesus was married. Trust me, it is stupid, and not of Christ. No, I have not watched it, but have seen the effects on people. i really, really have. It was on TBS, this weekend, I turned it.

Maybe I am stupid, and "not of Christ," but I am less distressed about contemplating Him being married, than by the suggestion that MM was just a groupie (as indicated in "Jesus Christ, Superstar"), or that he was a polygamist, as taught by the Mormons.

As I see it, this novel/movie, along with its prequel/sequel, "Angels and Demons," seems to target the history and various traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, for whom marriage is forbidden for a "man of God."

Sometimes our complaints about such assaults seem to mirror some of those received by David Steinberg in the '70's.

He says that after his (in)famous televised account about the story of Moses and the Burning Bush, he received several letters, including an angry one from a group of Baptists:
"We all feel that you are ridiculing Jews, and  insist that you stop!

That is OUR job!"

Well Norm, I guess my problem with all of it, is extra biblical, and how there is a linage of himans that are by the blood of Jesus. I think that title belongs to us all. It is just fake, and confuses people.

I prefer the older movies.  I do read some fiction but there is so much of what I consider better fiction available
I won't waste my time on anything of such a blasphemous nature.

Mac

I find the whole idea of these books and movies blasphemous. The Gnostic Gospels is where this rubbish comes from. Pure trash..

And no, I am not Catholic..

I would not and will not see the movie(s) or read the books.

And you're right Light, it has confused people.. And there are a lot of people that believe the Gnostic Gospels are true as well...
