What's the job market like for computer sciences right now?

[Cally]

I don't have much of a feel for it right now, except that there's a good variety of things to do with computer science training. Thx.

Specialized data communications and networking is a great field...especially in the engineering and implementation of such systems. The most stable are the ones that work on Governmental contracts and fields. (IE installing data relay systems for blackhawk helicopters so someone in DC can say, "shoot the one on the left and not the one on the right."

Osprey and predator drones require a ton of IT and data relay systems. Some of which is satellite and some radio technology.

The work seems to be stable and ongoing. Computer crashes and system updates and management is ongoing work...always.

Science?     It's all theory.

Actually all the research and my counselor did show that it Software Engineering (the particular field I looked up) is actually expected to grow.

The more research I do it looks like CS-related jobs are looking about as stable as areas of the healthcare industry. I've been pushing for this gig through retraining. It looks good to me, and flexible.
