I could not think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning than to veg out on a good, entertaining sci-fi movie. I have loved doing that very thing for over 50 years so why stop now. I loved movies like Forbidden Planet with Robbie the Robot and The Day the Earth Stood Still. I had seen the trailers and it looked fast paced and exciting which it turned out to be but the reaction to the movie by the critics (it was panned) and the general public (it was #1 at the box office) as well by me turned out to be not what I was expecting. I guess that I have matured over the years and now have more discernment. With all the talk nowadays of  science fiction movies like the Race to Witch Mountain  "acclimating people to the idea of alien disclosure and preparing us all for the new realities dawning in the 21st Century

I saw this movie and it seemed to me to be based on New Age beliefs. It undermines the account of Rapture by taking God out of the equation. In fact it seems to skip right past most of the Book of Revelation. It goes from Rapture to Earth made like new in a matter of a few hours. Completely skips the return of Christ. I found the movie to be distasteful. The one Christian in the movie was made into a wacko. Just from viewing the movie once and giving it my first impression, I would give it an F- for content. It's definitely an attempt to undermine Christianity by New Age Gnostics.

It wasn't a new earth, it was a completely new planet.

That being said, I thought the movie was awful.  A huge disappointment.

That being said, I do not understand the article, stucky, could you eleborate a little bit?

Yep, terrible movie.  I was disappointed.  New Age ideas were clear (but I don't look for Christian messages in secular movies anyway), but what was more clear was that the movie just stunk.
