Most scholars see Iran, Turkey, and parts of Eastern Europe and Northern Africa being aligned with Russia.  Their armies will be defeated.  According to population studies, they only comprise about 15% of the world's Islamic population. I believe Syria, Lebanon, Hizbollah and Hamas will have been previously defeated.  As for the surviving nations, according to Zechariah 14:2 all the nations of the world will eventually be mobilized against Jerusalem.

The entire 70th week of Daniel will be characterized by warfare. Beginning with the 2nd Seal judgment (Rev. 6:4) peace will be taken from the Earth and won't return till the 2nd Coming.  Europe, Africa, and Asia, as well as the Middle East, will all be involved in the struggle for control of Planet Earth.  Between the wars and the judgments, it's estimated that up to half the world's population will die during those 7 years.

Hey Stucky, but I have to disagree with you on the 70th week of Daniel being during the tribulation; that was completed in the following seven years after Jesus was in heaven and was a time of blessing as they had all things in common.

There is coming a last week of Daniel described in Daniel 9:27 where those events will take place.

Daniel 9:27  And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (Seven years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Larry,

You've got me confused. First you say The 70th week of Daniel "was completed in the following seven years after Jesus was in heaven and was a time of blessing as they had all things in common."

Then you say "There is coming a last week of Daniel described in Daniel 9:27 where those events will take place." and you quote the verse that describes the tribulation and places it's time.

Please explain.

Well if you take the 490 years of Leviticus 25:8 and divide them out at 360 days per year from 444 BC when Antaxerxes sent Nehemiah to rebuild Jerusalem until Jesus rides into Jerusalem that completed 483 years. The following 7 years of blessings until Steven was stoned was the 70th week. Now the coming prince of Daniel 9:26 is not Rome who actually destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD.

Daniel 9:27 describes that prince to come (The antichrist) which will be a new seven years of tribulation.

My thoughts.
