MARY IS DEAD AND CANT HELP YOU CAUSE THE DEAD KNOW NOTHING ECCL 9V 3: This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
4: For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5: For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6: Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.  ALSO JESUS SAID JN:14V6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.   REV : 1V11: Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.   REV: 1V18: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. JESUS HAS ALL THESE THINGS NOT MARY

I was asked again if we are allowed to pray to Jesus.  I found some interesting information in support of this.  Though like most abiblical arguments, they mostly involved a bit of license in interpreting their supporting scriptures and typical human argumentation by way of appeal to common sense, mathematics (If A then B and thus C) we are all familiar with.

Eve listened to Satan, disobeyed God, gave us to eat of the tree of evil, left us miserable and driven from the paradise of the grace of God.

Mary listened to an angel, obeyed, gave us to eat of the tree of life, restored happiness to us and us to God's grace, and she is enthroned in Heaven with Christ. And there she is my Mother and my Queen. I can only wish she could be as proud of me as I am of her.

The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception been defined by the Catholic Church as an article of faith.  Consequently the only way to disprove it is by disproving the infallibility of the Catholic Church. Meantime, none of your difficulties avails against it, so we might as well get along with the people who pratice the Catholic Faith.

I'm not going to bother, because the Lord Jesus, the Son of God, said: 'Thy word is truth' (John 17.17). It's the Word of God that decides.

I guess the reference isn't exclusively to Rome....

But it's good to weigh doctrine and practice against Scripture.

We need to check everything that we believe in the Bible, If it isnt there then we should discount it. If something is there that we are believing worngly then we need to change our beliefs.

Yes, indeed. Not only did the Lord Jesus in John 17 say, 'Thy word is truth', but He said also: 'Sanctify them through thy truth'.

Take care.

This can go back and forth all night. First, listen to this Irish lassie sing about the mother of Jesus. Then tell me that it's heathen.

I get my authority from Scripture, not emotional bombardment.

You must have a heart of stone, plus the lassie is singing Scripture in Latin. (Luke 1:28)

Farouk you do not know everything.  There are more things under heaven and earth of which you
can never conceive.  I know that I don't know every thing, that's the one thing that I know with
certainty.  There are many bibles.  Have you read a Catholic bible?  I haven't either but its entirely possible
that if you did it would increase your horizons.  GOD Bless.

The Bible itself reveals that the Lord Jesus is the one Mediator between God and men (1 Timothy 2.5).

Debbie_55

John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

We can just take this one verse that Jesus himself spoke and know that it is not Mary that we go to, but Jesus himself. If you go dig up Mary's grave I think you will find her body still there and not sitting with Jesus. I know the Catholics are big on Mary and are taught to go through her, but when Jesus speaks I think I will believe  His words over any religious beliefs.

walker, does the Catholic bible follow exeactly God's TRUE Word as written in say, The King James Version?

I doubt it, after reading of Mary as (the supposed) mediator.  I think I know now why, years ago, only Priests, Bishops and the like read the true Bible and passed on their interpretations of scripture to their naive, scripture ignorant congregations/students.  Clever way to latch onto them to become followers of Catholic doctrine.  Oh yeah, and get 'em while they're young...........

It saddens me, how much of the Catholic doctrine misleads so many persons.

Mary is a role model for mothers who are women of God.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest.  - Luke 1:30-32

Look what I brought with me. It is a picture of the Virgin Mary being visited by the angel Gabriel. This is when Mary found out she was going to be a mother. Being a mother is something very special. It is an awesome responsibility. Any child is a gift from God and the rearing of children is one of the most important things a parent has to do. Today is a day when we thank God for what our mothers do and have done to rear us in a fashion that honors God.

The love and caring of a mother starts before we are even born. With Mary it started with a humble obedience to the will of God. When she learned of her role in bringing Jesus into the world, she replied to the angel, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word (Luke 1:38). As frightened as she must have been from seeing an angel, she answered God's call to duty. She cared for her yet unborn child when she visited her cousin Elizabeth. Even while she was pregnant, she helped her cousin in the last few months before Elizabeth gave birth to John the Baptist (Luke 1:39-56). Mary followed the customs of worship when she brought Jesus to be circumcised according to the law (Luke 2:21). She made worship a priority in her life even while Jesus was an infant.

Mary protected the baby Jesus from harm by fleeing to Egypt when an angel warned Joseph that King Herod would try to destroy him (Matthew 2:12-14). She took Jesus to the feast of Passover where he stayed in the temple when he was twelve years old (Luke 2:41-50). It was important for her to take her child to the temple, just as your mother today brings you to church. She attended the wedding in Cana and encouraged her son to perform his first miracle. Mothers encourage us to be our best. She was always concerned for his safety. One time when he had so many people following him they couldn't even enter the house it was so full, and she wanted to be sure he was alright (Mark 3:21,31-35). Mothers will naturally be concerned for our safety.

Mary followed Jesus to the cross and watched in horror as they crucified the Lord of Life. She loved her son and must have cried as he entrusted her care to John from the cross (John 19:25-27). She visited the tomb on Easter morning and her grief turned to joy when she saw the empty grave! A mother is devoted and sticks by her children through good times and bad times. What a wonderful example we have of motherhood when we consider the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Be sure to thank God for your mother today and tell her how much you love her.

Hehealedme,

Thanks, I appreciate a good write-up more than the pot-shots taken by many Protestants.  The point that most modern people miss is that Jesus was raised in a Jewish home.  Most Christians apply our modern home life to the way Jesus was raised. That wasn't the case.  In a Jewish home the mother plays the key role, and the father spends a lot of time at the Temple talking politics.

Jesus kept the Sabbath, and Jews follow the Seder as outlined in the Talmud.  The man does not play the key role in the Sabbath meal on Friday night.  The wife does.  The wife prepared the Sabbath meal and set the Sabbath table according to the laws handed down through the Talmud. The wife then started the Sabbath meal with her Talmud prayer, then she lights the first candle and says that prayer, then she lights the other candle and says the second prayer. Finally the Husband says his prayer, but his prayer is to honor his wife and pray for God to strengthen her.

Mary was and still is a key player.  A few catholics do pray [to] Mary, but most simply honor Mary in their prayers.  I think that Protestants have really exaggerated, because of political reasons. The Catholic Church is a threat to modern nationalism, and a few old ladies with rosary beads and black veils are not the threat
