Since i'm not in any religion that recognizes anyone other than God as worthy of worship or capable of answering prayer, I pray to no one but God. God is a triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--Three in One.

Banished...

The only reason I would honor Mary is that she carried Jesus in her womb and then took care of Him as a loving mother should...
But Mary isn't to be honored in the same way as Jesus should be...
Mary isn't part of the Godhead...we are not to pray to her, she is NOT a mediator between God the Father and us, Jesus Christ is...
Mary is a born-again Christian, yes, but she is still a dead and burried mortal human being, waiting in her grave...she was a sinner and in need of a Savior just like the rest of us...

You are right hehealedme. We are not to pray to anyone except to God through Jesus. We are not to pray to any human being whether alive or dead.(or idolise them). Its a waste of time anyway, they cant hear you.

QuoteFirst, you must disproving the infallibility of the Catholic Church.

Those are words that speak wisdom. We can tie ourselves in knots arguing with evolutionists that they are wrong . Same goes for Catholicism. If we are not  speaking from commonality there will never even be a place where we can say "I agree to disagree".

It would appear that Catholics place church dogma above Bible doctrine. Or at the very least they run their stuff alongside.

There is no room for discussion with those who are in fear or are influenced by wrong teachings. It is ingrained.

Praying for an individual  that God would open their minds to truth is the only thing that works.

What is the truth then ?

The truth is that the backwoods start up churches in America are half-baked.  The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power in faith, in morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true vicar, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians

Mrs Mac,

The British hated the Catholics so bad that they wrote there own Bible, the King James Version. And of course, they reworded Luke 1:28 so that Mary would not be honored.

The Catholic Church teaches that us through the "Magisterium" (teaching authority of the Pope and United Bishops). The Church has protected the "deposit of the Faith" and passed it on by Sacred/Apostolic Tradition for 2,000 years. She has always known what is meant in Luke 1:28. "Hail Mary full of grace"

Mrs Mac

banished,
There was a lot of hatred on both sides to the point of Christians being tortured. I thank God that it is He that is even now protecting His word against the constant assault of Scripture changers.

If the word read "Hail Mary full of grace" that would mean nothing more to me than what He says to me now, "Hail my child, full of grace", because that is what I am.

I don't accept man made doctrines be they Catholic Popes or Mormons. Sola Scriptura!

Back it up with Scripture or it has no authority over our lives.  ::smile::

This is what you have been told but it isnt true The Bible as it is is what we are to go by. Anyone who adds or takes away from the Bible is in serious error. The pope is no closer to God than you or I. he is a human, a man and fallible just as anyone else is except Jesus. We have Jesus, we dont need Mary or the Pope. Jesus is all we need to be saved. I find it so hard to believe that so many are in such serious error. It is seriously worrying and tragic.

chosenone,

I am half Irish and you are British, so we are talking about nationalism because of the Irish wanting to break away from the Queen Mother.

farouk is Canadian and I am half French Canadian, so we are talking about nationalism there also because the French Canadians want to break away from the Queen Mother.

Ask yourself this question: Why are the Catholics revolted from your christian charity?

Mary the mother of Jesus is one element of the christian faith that stays with a man until death, "pray for us sinner now and at the hour of our death". Even if that element of faith is a fraud like you say, how do you expect to convince 1.2 Billion catholics to ask the Queen Mother to pray for them at the hour of their death.

Get my point? We are talking about politics at the expense of honoring the mother of Jesus. Count me out!

EJ,

What does honoring Mary or not honoring Mary have to do with Salvation? The answer is ZERO!

Like I have pointed out, it has everthing to do with the cheap politics of the christian faith. I have said before and I will say again, the only way to put an end to the politics is to recognize that the backwoods start up churches in America are half-baked.

"The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power in faith, in morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true vicar, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians."

By the way, I am excommunicated, so don't count me as Catholic.

Thats what you like to think but it is the Bible that EVERYONE uses. I think it is the Catholics that like to make their own doctrines up regardless of what Gods word says.
If we are saying that the Bible isnt correct and is fallible then we are disagreeing with what God has said that it is His inspired word.
I am sure that God is perfectly capable of making sure that what HE wanted in the Bible is what is IN the BIble. if the only way that you can believe and justify what you do, is to start saying that the Bible is wrong then cant you see where you are going???  Seriously concerning. Hardly any of the doctrines that you believe are in the Bible. Doesn't that bother you at all? It would me.

I started a thread in the "Catholic Section" asking the question, but I'm pretty sure that the Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power. As a result, for us Christians the Pope is Jesus? Lets wait to see what the Catholic Section has to say about it.

Debbie_55,

In the broadest sense, a vicar is Latin for a representative, anyone acting "in the person of" or agent for a superior. Hillery Clinton is a vicar for Obama.  When visiting a foreign government Hillery speaks as Obama. For all piratical purposes, Hillery is the president of the United States. Jesus chose Peter as His vicar, and Peter passed it on by Sacred/Apostolic Orders to Pope Benedict the Sixteenth. For all pratical purposes, Pope Benedict is Jesus, just like Hillery is Obama.

the only difference between me and the Pope is that he dictates his power and authority by a fleshly rule over his so called people and I take the power and authority that God has given me through His grace and use that power and authority in the name of Jesus to continue in His good works. It's odd how Jesus walks right beside me in Spirit on this earth and it is through that Spirit of God that guides and directs my path, allows me to pray directly to Him and works through me as His ambassador, but you have to take all your guidance and direction from a man then so be it. As for those little back wood churches was it not our founding Fathers of America that set them up to break away from tyranny of a dictatorship!!! You need not answer that.

I feel sorry for people who think that they cannot come directly to the Father. Becuase of what Jesus has done, we can do that. The curtain was torn in two so that we can come to our Heavenly Dad through Jesus. We dont need Mary, The pope or anyone else in order to do that, we have God Himself. We dont need The Pope to tell us what to do, we have The Bible and The Holy Spirit. We dont need any other mediator or saint or whatever to go to the Father. If The Father cannot help us the Mary or any other person wont be able to help us.
