Clash of the Titans - Genesis 6?

I went to see the movie Clash of the Titans. It was a 3D spectacle and I found it very entertaining. The elements of Greek mythology in the story raised plenty of questions in my mind: Has it really existed? How did man come up with these legends? What are they based on? Have these creatures and these gods really existed? How does it all relate to the Bible? Where does it chronologically fit in its context?

I think some of these questions are answered in Genesis 6:1-4 (NLT):

"1 Then the people began to multiply on the earth, and daughters were born to them. 2 The sons of God saw the beautiful women and took any they wanted as their wives. 3 Then the Lord said, "My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.
