A friend of mine told me about these after I asked...

I was seeing all these people with letters after their names and in their signature lines of what kind of personality they had.

So...I took their test and where some things aren't me most are...

They nailed me and that was sooooo annoying. (course they said that I would be annoyed about this and that was even more annoying)

So...

What Kind of personality are you?

JohnDB

oh yeah...

Im an ENFP apparently

azteacher8062

What is the test that you took?

notmyown2010

ISFJ...AKA the nurturer/the martyr

I think they are useful if taken in the general sense. I think we are an amalgam of those traits and that it is wrong to pinpoint a particular individual as only that particular type without acknowledging that they could have other aspects that can't be evaluated based on those tests.

JohnDB

Yeah...I agree.

My profile didn't say much about my creative talents or appreciations at all.

I love poetry (and sometimes write it) and then there is all of the music that I enjoy...and art and sculpture and...well...

It ignored all of that completely about me.

My possible faults aren't something that I really own either nor really have owned...I am too self disciplined for that kind of thing.

And I deal a lot more with reality than what they said as well...

BUT other than that they had me cold...which was really annoying.

So..It is a close guess on some things...but hey...this is what you get for free right?

Cally

Ah, the MBTI, the most ingenious and useful tool in psychology, in my opinion.

My type is INTP. I've studied the principles of the MBTI for quite some time (and put them to pretty good use).

ENFP sounds like you, JohnDB: Extrovert, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving. Likewise, my typology describes me pretty well.

The longer write-ups of the sixteen type combinations are amazingly accurate to people, but may have a few details off, but I'm pretty well convinced by now that Carl Jung (later perfected by Myers and Briggs) understood some very real principles about the mechanics of personality, as it were.

I've learned to apply it pretty well. Like, say, I've realized that my extremely high Introvert tendency means that LOTS of time alone should be balanced with a little time getting energy from outside. Sometimes consciously nurturing the type like that can be helpful.

Here are some links so others can take the tests...

(I like this one)

So...if you want to take the test and see who you are and can share who you are with the rest of us...that would be wonderful.

JohnDB

Wait. Found another one that discussed all of my creative talents but absolutely missed all of my mechanical skills. I'm beginning (OK I'm already sure) to believe psychologists are crazy.

See all the difference a letter makes.

My problem is that the psychologists don't know us..I ain't never crazy so I don't go...neither are any of the other people who share my personality group type...So it appears that the psychologists don't know anything about us at all.
Hummm

But you are looking Good there Britt...

Yeah, you know marc I've always wanted to ask you questions to see if you had any tips about how to get by with this kind of temperament. I mean, I often get those passing comments about being "smart" and such, but how should we INTPs consider ourselves busy and employable? I try to apply my meditations to what I do, of course, and it has some great effects, but I dunno . . . could be more efficient, maybe.  ::shrug::

I may be the wrong person to ask. I've never dealt with reality very well. I am finding that Paxil helps a great deal, though.

I know what you mean.  It's cool. I return-fire to reality in my early adult life, while taking care to protecting those bottom layers we introverts seem to have.  ::smile::

yesult

I was superwoman. So the test exploded.

True.

No actually I don't like any test that makes you say you are or arn't something when you don't agree with the question. I don't think it gives an accurate conclusion. How can it?

Also they're forcing you to say stuff about yourself that just isn't true.

So yeah. I did a colour theory test though once where you just picked favourite colours in order and it was pretty accurate  ::eek:: ::help:: so there you go.

I like the tests where they don't usher you into a corner.
