By nature, human beings are very self-centered and it takes alot of humilty and backbone to break free from that and learn to put others ahead of yourself. Trust me, I'm learning this myself and its not easy. I used to be one who didn't love people at all, but very much had that "what-about-me" mindset and attitude. It effected how I treated people and the way I'd interacted with them. Wasn't very pretty, to say the least.  ::sick::

But I firmly believe that the more you let go of your will and embrace God's, things will get easier, regardless of what's going on or how you feel. With each day, God is helping me to understand that its very possible to even live a love-filled life with joy.   ::nodding::

Now..............I've heard and read horror stories about broken/dramatic/freaky relationships about people not willing to fully commit to the relationship due to fear, one person thinking everything is about him/her, somebody being a control freak and has that "its my way or the highway!" attitude, a spouse letting his/her mind run wild and goes off to sleep with some other man or woman, somebody being dishonest and hiding things that he/she isn't willing to share with you but has no problem sleeping with you, just to name a few.

To put it plainly, I'm single and would like to be married someday but there are times where I wonder if there's anyone out there who really understands that its not about us and that relationships need to be God-centered where both the man and the woman submit to Him if they would want the the relationship to be what God desires it to be. And so far in my life with Him, His ways are WAAAAYYYYY better than ours. Besides, we're not created for mere flings, but living relationships.

But there's so many divorced/separted people nowandays and to be honest, its discouraging. When I look at all the drama, sometimes I don't even want anything to do with relationships because for the simple fact that we are selfish. Then again, maybe that's my problem: I need to quit looking at everyone else and make sure I'm doing what God wants me to do, eh?  ::crackup::

Am I blaming others for how I feel about relationships? A little bit. And that's only because we are human and we need one another. No one is supposed to go through life alone. So why do we insist on being so caught up in ourselves all the time?

How can an old grandfather like me offer you encouragement? I guess by pointing out that you really do know how to have a love-filled life with joy. And I promise you that God alone is more than enough-you do not have to be married to be fulfilled- but God is not a cosmic killjoy, you do not appear to have the gift of singleness-so I am trusting God to bring a born again, bible believing man your way to marry you.

I did have my happy days when I was married..

Marriage can be happy.

I am very very happy in my marriage. It is a second marriage, we were both in long first marriages, but God is a God  who lifts you out of the pit and gives you new beginnings and if you follow Him and who He has for you to marry, there is great joy in being married to the right person.
I dont agree that God is aways enough in this life, I believe that he gives us marriages because that what brings fullfillment and happiness. Yes God needs to be first in the marriage, but 'its not good for man to be alone' can be so true for many.

I could very easily be discouraged. My family and my ex husbands family are marriage disaster areas. Everyone in my ex husbands family are divorced, mostly through affairs. My dad had affairs, one lasting many years. My brothers two wives both had affairs that ended in divorce. My husbands wife had an affair, and so on and so on, but I never let that put me off marrying again and 5 years ago I met my husband who is the nicest man I have ever known. He is very godly and loves Jesus. We have a marriage that is like a second honeymoon. Follow Gods will for you and you cant go wrong.

Thanks David.

And whoever he is, I hope he's bigger and taller than me. And handsome, too. ::giggle::
