Romans 10
But what doth it say? `Nigh thee is the saying--in thy mouth, and in thy heart:' that is, the saying of the faith, that we preach;
9 that if thou mayest confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and mayest believe in thy heart that God did raise him out of the dead, thou shalt be saved,
10 for with the heart doth one believe to righteousness, and with the mouth is confession made to salvation;
11 for the Writing saith, `Every one who is believing on him shall not be ashamed,'

The Mormons have four "secret" handshakes because this is what Joseph Smith taught:

"Doctrine & Covenants" Section 129:
1  There are two kinds of beings in heaven, namely: Angels, who are resurrected personages, having bodies of flesh and bones;
2  For instance, Jesus said: Handle me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
3  Secondly: the spirits of just men made perfect, they who are not resurrected, but inherit the same glory.
4  When a messenger comes saying he has a message from God, offer him your hand and request him to shake hands with you.
5  If he be an angel he will do so, and you will feel his hand.
6  If he be the spirit of a just man made perfect he will come in his glory; for that is the only way he can appear;
7  Ask him to shake hands with you, but he will not move, because it is contrary to the order of heaven for a just man to deceive; but he will still deliver his message.
8  If it be the devil as an angel of light, when you ask him to shake hands he will offer you his hand, and you will not feel anything; you may therefore detect him.
9  These are three grand keys whereby you may know whether any administration is from God.

Joseph Smith, Nauvoo, Illinois, February 9, 1843. History of the Church 5:267.

Who is right? and BTW, their handshakes are really not so secret. Do a web search to find all four.

Hi , and most so-called believers will not accept extra-bibical source from LDS or RCC , and you are definitely lost and you will never stand a chance , because they will avoid you until you leave , or are scared to debate you , dan p

Considering that this thread is one year old, and considering that the last poster was 125 days ago, I am surprised that no one LDS has bothered to post here.

The biggest reason I haven't been very active in this forum is because no one else was. Most of the threads were started by you, John T, and by the time I registered, you hadn't been on for a few months. If it had been a little more recent, I probably would have, though this particular topic isn't one of my greatest interests, nor am I the most knowledgeable about it. Truth is, I haven't yet read through the entire opening post.

Let me give you the definition in brief. Your endowment is, to receive all those ordinances in the House of the Lord, which are necessary for you, after you have departed this life, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, passing the angels who stand as sentinels, being enabled to give them the key words, the signs and tokens, pertaining to the Holy Priesthood, and gain your eternal exaltation in spite of earth and hell. (Brigham Young, 6 Apr 1853, Journal of Discourses vol. 2, page 31)

"I am here to answer.  I shall be on hand to answer when I am called upon, for all the counsel and for all the instruction that I have given to this people.  If there is an Elder here, or any member of this Church, called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who can bring up the first idea, the first sentence that I have delivered to the people as counsel that is wrong, I really wish they would do it; but they cannot do it, for the simple reason that I have never given counsel that is wrong; this is the reason."  (Journal of Discourses, vol. 16, p. 161).

"The Journal of Discourses is a vehicle of doctrine, counsel, and instruction to ALL people, but especially to the Saints." — Brigham Young

"Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation? (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1, pp. 50,51)

"I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the Children of men, that they may not call scripture!" Bringham Young, Journal of Discourses, Volume 13, page 95.
