I am not sure where or if this will go anywhere, but, how are we different from the basic problem of the gnostics?  

What I mean is that each group of us gets a special-inside, forgotten-forsaken point/principle/practice and then we try to rally around us as many as we can, either by sheep-stealing, proselytizing, or bamboozling.

I guess many are sincere, but in the name of truth we split and splatter over any number of "secrets

I know the true words to "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less".  Most people get that fourth line wrong.

"My hope" is in the wealth of Bill Gates--whom I could have worked for--that he will leave me in his will.  However, that is wishful thinking because he didn't add me to the Microsoft family because I didn't ask.

Hope is not "wishful thinking."

G1680 elpis el-pece' From ἔλπω elpō which is a primary word (to anticipate, usually with pleasure); expectation (abstract or concrete) or confidence:—faith, hope.

The cross provides a type: a pattern capable of being imitatied. Only after you have obeyed that pattern are you THEN free from sin (Rom 6)

1Pet. 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God:
            and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
1Pet. 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Conclusion: those who have obeyed the gospel plan are in the house of God.

Christ adds disciples to His house or His church when they are saved by obeying Christ in baptism.

Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people.
         And the Lord added to the church daily such as were being saved

Only those added as a disciple by Christ are ever going to be taught "that which is written." The MARK: all of the songs and sermons are just MADE UP.

Rom. 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
        that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Rom. 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
        that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost

A holy spirit after baptism is the same as A good conscience (consciousness). BAPTISM SAVES US because we REQUEST A holy spirit of A good conscience. Paul told the Jews in Corinth that they couldn't read BLACK text on BROWN paper until they converted or were baptized INTO Christ.

Eph. 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
        may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Eph. 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened;
        that ye may know what is the hope of his calling,
        and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Rom. 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the spirit (ours),
         even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption,
         to wit, the redemption of our body.
Rom. 8:24 For we are saved by hope:
        but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
Rom. 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not,
        then do we with patience wait for it.

Our hope is not in the CROSS (defeat) but in the RESURRECTION.
