The subject pretty much explains it all.  My ex and I broke up about 2 months ago and now one of my best friends, who is also a fairly close friend of hers, likes her.

What should I do?  Is it normal to be upset with him even though I'm over her?

JohnDB

It isn't because of her relationship with someone new it is because he is your friend.

You don't want to lose him to your failed relationship with her...and I can't blame you either. But the thing is is that you don't have to not have a friendship relationship with her. I have been friends with several ex-girlfriends...no they ain't exactly the close kind but it is possible to actually still like someone even if a romantic relationship didn't work out.

You musta had something in common with her when you were dating her...same as with your best friend.

Birds of a feather do flock together.  ::groupprayer::

Hello,

Well, in my opinion, it is natural to have some negative feelings about this situation. What was funny, is I thought the same thing in regard to an ex not long ago: What if one of my friends began to date my ex. And we have been broken up officially for almost a year now. And I'm getting over him (its been hard for me, a back and forth relationship that I wanted to work so bad but there were too many broken hearts in this already I now realize).

HOWEVER, if one of my friends dates him, I would just cut my losses and not talk to the friend either. Not so much because I would be upset, but because I need to heal. And even being over him doesn't mean the feelings that were once aren't remembered. Its amazing what the body, mind, and heart can do altogether. Some say distance brings healing (not seeing the person). And once you see them again, feelings arise (whether positive or negative).

I advise you to let you friend know how you feel. Then, I believe your friendship will go the way it should.

Yea I think it's very normal to be upset. I always thought it was one of those unwritten laws that you just don't date a friend's ex, especially a best friend.

I completely agree with Stefanie on this one. I know there's people out there that just aren't bothered by it and can get over someone in a week but I'm just not one of them. When I fall in love, I fall hard, and when it ends it's even harder and takes a long time to get over it. And like you said, you can think you're over the person but merely seeing them can bring back unexpected feelings.
