I am a game developer and I am working on a game called "Bible Smuggler" for the PC. Its based on the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible, which is this year.
Its essentially an Role Playing Game. I am trying to historically accurate.

There will be no explicit spiritual beings in this game(angels, demons). They are overused in Christian games.

Would you like the game to feature:
1. Combat? (Against the Inquisition) If yes, realistic or not realistic? Bloodshed?
2. Spiritual Disciplines? (prayer, Bible reading, preaching) How? (RPG style skills? Or something instinctive[one button shooting is instinctive]?)
3. Martyrdom? Instead of combat, you have an option to "turn the other cheek".
4. Conversion? The characters have an ability to convert others to their side. How should this be implemented?
5. Game Layout? Platform(like Mario)? Or RPG view? (Sorry, we only specialize in 2D graphics. We are currently unable to create 3D games.)

In general:
What do you want in a Christian game? Are some too preachy?

Hope your efforts go well.

Rpg games tend to be top down, but maybe doing  a mario type game rpg would bring something unique, but could end up a mess, if not planned right.

Maybe you could have a character who goes around healing people in Jesus name and bad guys could be rats, diseases, lawyers who try and stop you entering certain areas, maybe you need to find gold in order to buy a defence lawyer to beat the evil lawyers, or bribe the evil lawyers directly. Maybe bribing is more expensive, but hiring a defence lawyer cheaper, but risk of losing.

Awesome game idea tell us more. I am a huge video game fan with tons of ideas.  put  it on XBLA and PSN please.

Is combat against the inquisition realistic?

I even thought about Bible games for a long time, but hopefully we've learned from LifeTree's garbage from back in the day.

I'd think the key to making this game work would be sharp WRITING more than anything, if it's actually going to be more than a watered-down version of a secular game with a Bible-themed coating.

You'd want to make a gamer feel the experience, right? There are lots of games out there whose gameplay mechanics focus on decision making, including choices of words in conversation. What are the challenges that your characters face, realistically? Make the player experience them. That's going to expose your theology and values, but again, that's what it would take to make it a significant "Christian game" than the junk (or ho-hum, at best) that immediately comes to my mind, at least.

I big budget isn't necessary, in my opinion. Just lots of inspiration and ambition.

Hey I checked a video of your Shark Week game. It looks really good! I have NO graphics card on my computer so I couldn't even play it.

You need some help...MW3 or you have to go with real life issues and how the word of God can help us in everyday life.

Most gamer,s like reward systems. The bigger the brighter the better.500 points and a new trophy.

Sin = Death points (bad choices) so you start to walk and act slow while the screen starts to go black    Feeding and acting on the Word of God and Spirit = Life points and there is ever increasing light so more discovery items can be found

When you are down and out you need to get to the word ( medical health pack )And why not destroy a few demons harassing  the soul as well along the way,get rewarded for making the right choices but also have a cut scene on the impact of that choice, like how it impacts someone else,s  life.

And when you get to a end of a chapter let them be caught up in a beam me up Scotty portal and hear "well done good and faithful servant enter into the Joy of the Lord".And then see all the bonus points start to explode around them like the 4th of July as they start to become a creature of light.Next Chapter.

And when you die Resurrection power is released to take you back to the last save.

Cally, what do you mean by "NO graphics card on my computer"? You've got to have SOMETHING, maybe integrated? Or, maybe you have an old computer without 3D capability?

If you do have a PCI Express slot, you can get a really cheap 8400GS at Newegg.com for around $15 - open box, I bought 2.

Are you still creating this game? I would like to hear as I have also been working on a spiritual experience for the PC

rakovsky

I want an RPG game.
A good Gospels game is YOU TESTAMENT.

Check it out.

Good example. Too short a game.

Also not a fan of the inquisition.
