Pray to God for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and read your bible.  Communicating with the dead, will only lead you to the same.  God has forbidden it in His word. It doesn't matter if one puts a "Christian" garb upon it, communicating with the dead, is communicating with the dead.

13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; 14 And enquired not of the Lord: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse. 1 Chron 10:13-14 (KJV)

They hurt themselves with their own hands. I've seen it happen, not pretty.
