One would think that with prosperity associated to the soul, that would be the primary source of well being. Is carnal mammon the goal, or spiritual things? It is certain that He Who we are to follow, and His apostles did not wind up rich in the things of this world, and yet Paul said at the end in 2 Timothy 4:7  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; were they wrong?

Jesus doesn't promise us prosperity, He does promise us persecution however.

While it's great if you can use your talents and earn a lot of money from that, it shouldn't be the christian's sole goal in life.
There are many missionaries in the world who have given up so much to spread the gospel - they are as blessed as a christian who is a wealthy lawyer or doctor.

God has already blessed us with all spiritual blessings - He doesn't mention earthly blessings or blessing of wealth.

The Bible describes Abraham as the friend of God yet he was a man of material possessions.

"And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold."

Even our Lord Jesus lived on the earth rich. He moved about  in convoy, had  to pay bills and salaries for the men  that worked in His ministry, some of them with families.

Mar 4:36  "And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships".

I believe that spirituality has a prominent place  for prosperity.

Zec 1:17  Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

All covenant fathers were super rich.

Gen 26:12  Isaac planted crops in that land and took in a huge harvest. GOD blessed him.
Gen 26:13  The man got richer and richer by the day until he was very wealthy.
Gen 26:14  He accumulated flocks and herds and many, many servants, so much so that the Philistines began to envy him.

What do you think of the following scripture?

1 Timothy 6:5-8

5  Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6  But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

Pro 14:24  The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

As custodians and teachers of the wisdom of God, material blessings are avenues to show case to the world that, the things  we preach and teach are real.

........: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1sa 16:7

The people we want to reach out to and win to the kingdom are essentially moved by what they can see.

Isa 2:1  The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
Isa 2:2  And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
Isa 2:3  And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
Isa 2:4  And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Isa 2:5  O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

This is the Prophetic agenda of heaven for the last days

The end time Church is a prosperous Church
The end time Church belongs to the mountain top
The end time Church is a high flying Church
The end time Church is a pace setter in every human endeavour

The world is coming to ask the Church how she is getting result, in a world where almost nothing seems to be working.

We are going to teach the business community how to do business and excel using kingdom principles for out of Zion shall go forth the law
The Church will showcase the wisdom of God with proofs.

Remember, wisdom is justified of her children (results)
Only fools doubt proofs.

The unbelievers will no longer doubt the power of the Living God to save and deliver.

Trully the crown of the wise is their riches.....Pro 14:24

I ventured into this forum as a business owner and had to reply to this.
I think prosperity is something God wants for us. If we accept we are created in the image and likeness of the king of Heaven, what earthly example do we set forth if we avow as that creation with the Holy Spirit within us that we should live impoverished? And riches or being comfortable financially is a bad thing?
