Friedrich Nietzche... i know he said some pretty bad things but i think the quote is kind of beautiful, im sort of looking for a religion i just want to find one which is in line with my philosophic views, so please tell me what you think guys

My best friend just died last week

If you Gaze into the abyss the Abyss gazes into you...

Religion shopping is kinda an odd thing to begin with.

And we don't offer one that is going to align with your morals. God, the Maker of all the universe, has delineated good vx evil. We, as fallen human beings only know what is good because it is what God has taught us. We may think we know what is righteousness but over the course of history...obviously we do not when left to our own devices void of God's instructions.

SOOOO

We have nothing to offer except an introduction...and an opportunity for you to learn enough to start out on your own journey to find God.

AND

IF GOD FINDS YOU...(because you went looking for him) He will not be the God you were looking for...He will be more gooder than you can ever imagine possible.

Hi myway1000 and welcome. I did like the thought of a man dancing to music he didn't hear, but he was hearing something, and that brings to mind the following story of Dummy Walker at the following link. I hope you enjoy it.

oh sorry if i did something wrong and surely looking for a religion is the first step i mean to believe in western deist because that's where im from is wrong to begin with surely i should look to learn and see what i think seem most moral is the way to go i mean im looking to learn is all grown up in an atheist environment i want to be able to make my own opinions and not my upbringing

So any and all information is appreciated  ::smile::

I saw a bumper sticker awhile back that said: God is Dead-Nietzche.  Then on the other side of the same car's bumper another sticker that read: Nietzche is Dead-God.

Instead of seeking a "religion," put your faith in Christ, He will never let you down.........  ::clappingoverhead::

I love the quote you presented, regardless of its originator, it speaks to my Christianity and those that think me insane. rofl

Thank you, ::smile::

I am not sure how to address your search for a religion, but I will make a suggestion:  read "Mere Christianity" by CS. Lewis.

It will appeal to your philosophical nature, and is quite non-denominational which is a blessing to those outside the faith.  The first few pages can be a hard read to those without a background in philosophy, but if you find it so, persevere, it gets easier as one progresses through it.

For a more entertaining experience, with a deep message, Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters" is how I was introduced to Lewis, and have been an avid fan since.

And of course read the Bible,  I would suggest saying a prayer to God for understanding at the outset regardless if it feels like mere lip service, He will hear you.  Starting with one or all of the first four Books of the New Testament I found helpful.  It is the first four Gospels that made me see the Truth in the Word,

These are just my thoughts, I am relatively new to seriousness in my faith, and this is how I got started.

Good luck, and Godspeed in your quest, ::prayinghard::
Carey.
