I'm still campaigning for a "Fellowship Forum."  Yeah, I know your probably tired of me doing so, but shoot, I just believe we need one.  Devotionals comes close I suppose, but I don't know if it fulfills the image of a Fellowship Forum.

Reason why is I have a passage of Scripture from 1st Peter that I wanted to post and ask others about, but there really isn't any proper Forum to put it on.  If I put it in Theology, it will just become an argument over who does/does not understand the Scriptures.  If I put it in Devotionals, it might get three or four hits.  If I put it in General Discussion, it will probably be moved.

See, I just want to share the Scriptures, and ask others what these Scriptures mean to them.  And I want them to trust that they can share their understanding of them without being challenged to prove anydarnthing!  I don't want to always have to argue over everything.............and I believe others here don't either.

It isn't often that we can just say what something means to us and not have to worry about being criticized for our meaning of Scripture.

Anyway, thought I would give it another shot..............oh, and if anyone is interested, the passage of Scriptures are in 1st Peter, Chapter 3, vs. 19 through 25.

God bless

Not a bad idea, but I don't know how expressiong what a scripture means to you will not inspire someone to offer his/her interpretation of the meaning, no matter what the forum is called. I guess we could have an "Agree With Me" forum where only agreement can be expressed and any posts that resemble a counter point will be deleted. I don't know.

I do believe iron sharpens iron and sometimes that involves being shown that I/we understand something wrongly. I'm here to learn. If I didn't learn something nearly everyday, I would have little reason to come here. I learn little from being around people that are all like me and agree with me on everything.

Thanks for the comment Jaime, no, no, I WANT them to respond by saying what it means to them.  I just don't want it to be an argument about who does or who does not understand Scripture.  I want folks to share WHAT IT MEANS TO THEM, and it don't have to be a "pat on the back" kind of thing.

Poster one says..........these Scriptures mean this to me:........................................

Poster two says.........well, to me, they mean this.........................................

And no one says:  Your wrong, you don't know what your talking about, you don't understand Scripture, do you even own a Bible?

(stuff like that............)

Does that make sense?
::smile::

(modified to add)  Lord knows, we got enough Forums for "sharpening our iron."  I just would like one where we could share our feelings of certain Scriptures without the swordfighting.

p.rehbein why can you not just post it where you think it belongs and ask that people not start arguments? And if someone tries to subvert your request clearly stated in the OP then simply report their post? If a thread OP asked that we not start arguments and simply post our opinions why should we as believers have such a hard time with that?

As for 1 Peter 3:19-22 you will need to include verse 18.  ::smile::

DANG!  Sorry guys, my "oldtimers" kicked in..............IT'S CHAPTER 2, CHAPTER TWO I SAY!

::frustrated:: ::blushing::

1st Peter, Chapter 2:

19 .) For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20 .) For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 .) For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 .) Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 .) Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 .) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
25 .) For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

I object, and this is exactly why this thread needs to be moved to non-traditional theology; we need objective debate and control. Power to the interpreters; my bible does not include your stated scriptures. Have you ever read a bible, are you led by the Spirit, etc.: Is this what you mean?

Devotionals is quite active and a Non-debate forum.

Most just post preaching comments and so there is nothing much said there. But a question would likely get responses especially of the nature you propose.

p.rehbein,

I appreciate your thoughts and suggestion. I'm hesitant to add another forum area just because there are so many already. I had originally intended the Bible Verses forum area to be like what you're describing. And maybe even the Devotionals area in some ways.

If you posted there and asked for nondebate in your post, I'd think that would work. What do you think?
