Quoted article below from link above. My comments in blue.

QuoteProtestants Call on the NI Football League to Stop Organizing Games on Sundays to Avoid Desecrating the Sabbath and Discriminating Against Christians

In many places where the church possesses significant political power, it will often use its influence to advocate for laws that protect what they call the sanctity of Sunday as a day of rest and worship. Such efforts seek to encourage people to focus on religious activities and family time rather than secular pursuits and sports. Historically, these laws were based on religious traditions and reflected the social and moral values of the past. While such laws have gradually relaxed over the years, there is a movement underway that is seeking to reintroduce Sunday into society.

On June 5, 2024, the Belfast News Letter Today published an article titled "Free Presbyterian Church Accuses Northern Ireland Football League of Anti-Christian 'Discrimination' for Staging Matches on Sunday" that called for an end to the desecration of Sunday. In other words, playing football on Sunday violates both the Sabbath and discriminates against Christians, neither of which is true.

The Belfast News Letter Today published the following:

• "The Free Presbyterian Church has written to the NI Football League (NIFL) to complain that it is discriminating against practicing Christians by staging matches on the Sabbath."

• "The letter says ... 'We, in keeping with the historic position of Protestant Churches hold Sunday to be the Christian Sabbath'."

• "We hold it to be a special day and a day that is marked by the worship of God and rest and it has been kept this way by thousands of evangelical Christians for hundreds of years."

• "Now, however, with Premiership football matches to be held on Sunday NIFL are robbing Christian fans of the opportunity of supporting their team from week to week and they are closing the door for Christian footballers to be able to play in the top league in Northern Ireland."

• "In a day when we are being told that there should be equal opportunities for all, this does not seem to include evangelical Christians."

• "We are calling on NIFL to reverse course on the matter of Sunday football."

Basically, the argument that the Free Presbyterian Church in Ireland is making is that playing football on Sunday is both immoral and illegal. This message was not just conveyed to the football league but also published in the local press. The terms "robbing" Christians, "discrimination," "closing the door" for Christians, and "equal opportunity" are all loaded with legal implications.

These are the types of pressure tactics that the church will use on its citizens in order to revive Sunday laws. As societies grapple with issues like the loss of spirituality, overwork, burnout, and the erosion of family time, there will be renewed interest in preserving Sundays as a day for worship, reflection, and community engagement. The revival of Sunday rest will be driven by a desire to promote a sense of well-being and solidarity in an increasingly fast-paced and spiritually devoid world.

"The dignitaries of church and state will unite to bribe, persuade, or compel all classes to honor Sunday. The lack of divine authority will be supplied by oppressive enactments. Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance" (Great Controversy, p. 592).

I wonder if these Sunday keepers have the same concerns for those who keep the seventh day sabbath, or possibly other days? Won't hold my breath waiting for them to show such concern. This appears to be a case of professed Christians, who are not even willing to suffer the slightest inconveniences for their faith, let alone be persecuted for it.

Amo, I'm happy for you that you worship on Saturday - I can assure you that the Catholic Church isn't concerned or offended in the least that you observe the Sabbath day. This isn't a problem whatsoever, the issue with Adventism is it's rejection of the Trinity Doctrine.  THAT, is a problem.

Yes, I am sure that freedom among our members to have perhaps differing views regarding the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, irks Catholic leadership. Nevertheless, we care nothing for a great many Catholic teachings, nor do we recognize their authority on any matter. To the contrary, we preach against their tendencies, and present as well as ancient efforts to force their beliefs upon all. Such as their teaching and support of local, city, state, and or national Sunday laws. Which would force their chosen and created rest day upon all.

http://adventmessenger.org/over-100-million-people-in-1500-cities-around-the-world-will-celebrate-car-free-sunday-on-september-22-2024/

Article below from link above.

Over 100 Million People in 1,500 Cities Around the World will Celebrate Car-free Sunday on September 22, 2024

National Today is a news media company that tracks all the special holidays and events around the world. National Today just announced that the International Car-Free Sunday celebration will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Sponsoring this kind of global event on Sunday serves two purposes. First, it establishes a global forum for community action aimed at promoting more sustainable car and transportation habits. Secondly, it designates Sunday as the official day to sponsor these kinds of leisurely activities due to the fact that so many people already see Sunday as the collective day of rest. Sunday is traditionally associated with family gatherings, church worship, and relaxation, which makes it the perfect day to participate in environmental stewardship.

National Today published the following about Car-Free Sunday 2024:

"World Car Free Day is celebrated every September 22. The day encourages motorists to give up their cars for a day. Some cities and countries organize events in celebration of this day. The events, which vary by location, give motorists and commuters a glimpse of what their locality would be like with fewer cars."

• "Car-Free Sunday has its origins from when the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) set the inaugural annual Car-Free Day on the first Tuesday in their Green Transport Week, which was sometime around 17 June. In 2000, the agreement was made for it to be a self-standing day held on September 22 — originally as a pan-European day — organized under the sponsorship of the European Commission. It was later expanded globally — during this time, a large number of cities around the world were invited to close their centers to cars. Pedestrians, cyclists, and other forms of sustainable transportation were encouraged instead."

• "The idea of this holiday is that people can reflect on what their city would look like with fewer cars, and what measures would be required to bring that picture to reality. Advocates report that over 100 million people in 1,500 cities around the world celebrate International Car-Free Day, though it is done on days they choose and in ways they choose as well."

• "The idea behind Car-Free Sunday is to do without your car that whole day. You can cycle or take another means of sustainable transportation instead."

In an effort to lessen pollution and save the environment, there is a global movement underway that is seeking to ban automobiles on Sunday for at least one day a year. But dedicating even a single Sunday to the environment creates a dangerous precedent because it sets a standard for others to follow in the future, which could very easily lead to a weekly day of rest.

One thing is certain: the idea that Sundays are for the environment is becoming increasingly popular. How popular is it? It has become so popular that on September 22, 2024, 100 million people will join in on Car-Free Sunday. How can anyone deny that Sunday rest and ecological sustainability are being aligned together—hand in hand—in today's society?

"In free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance" (Great Controversy, p. 592).

Yes.  People would need to go to assemble with other Christians on Saturday.

That's why we would call this "Saturday Law."

There is a continuing push to get everyone centrally located in cities and get rid of any significant "rural" element to society. It is in the rural element that most of the fight against the "New World Order" originates. The no-cars holiday is but one such move. I believe that the push for EV transportation is along that same line.

http://adventmessenger.org/catholics-argue-that-adventist-teachings-are-incorrect-and-that-sunday-should-be-protected-by-public-authorities-since-it-is-the-day-of-rest/

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteCatholics Argue that Adventist Teachings are Incorrect and that Sunday Should be Protected by Public Authorities Since it is the Day of Rest

Catholic Answers, a media ministry dedicated to defending Catholic teachings, stated on July 21, 2024, that Seventh-day Adventists are wrong to observe Saturday as the day of rest. They stated in a published article that Adventist doctrine is false according to the Bible. Going a step further, Catholic Answers cites the Catholic Catechism to support its claim that, although the Fourth Commandment is no longer legally binding, we must continue to observe Sunday as the Lord's Day.

Catholic Answers published the following, attempting to pass on error as biblical truth:

• "Seventh-day Adventists claim that we as Christians are still bound to keep the Sabbath—that's to say, we must worship God on Saturday. But Paul's teaching in our second reading proves otherwise."

• "Paul teaches this elsewhere. Consider, for example, Colossians 2:16. There Paul writes, "Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or sabbaths."

• "This means that Christians are no longer bound to hold to the Sabbath law just as they are no longer bound to hold fast to Mosaic law's precepts governing these other things."

• "So, the Seventh-day Adventist claim is falsified by Paul's teaching."

• "Even though we're no longer bound to observe the Sabbath, the idea of rest does carry over to our celebration of Sunday, the Lord's Day."

• "Sanctifying Sundays and holy days requires a common effort. Every Christian should avoid making unnecessary demands on others that would hinder them from observing the Lord's Day."

• "In spite of economic constraints, public authorities should ensure citizens a time intended for rest and divine worship. Employers have a similar obligation toward their employees."

• "The Catechism affirms the good of Sunday rest and leisure for society, stating: In respecting religious liberty and the common good of all, Christians should seek recognition of Sundays and the Church's holy days as legal holidays. They have to give everyone a public example of prayer, respect, and joy and defend their traditions as a precious contribution to the spiritual life of society."

Colossians 2:16 is a Bible verse that is often used to try to show that Sabbath observance is no longer necessary. However, we must know that any doctrine or teaching should be established or rejected only after careful study of everything the Bible teaches on a given subject and not by quoting Bible verses out of context. Context is crucial when making interpretations. Many words have more than one meaning, and context helps clarify what the meaning is.

To address the objection raised by those who claim that Colossians 2:16 proves that the seventh-day Sabbath was abolished at the cross, one must show by the context and from other scriptures that the "handwriting of ordinances that was against us" (Col. 2:14) is not the Decalogue, and further, that the weekly seventh day Sabbath is not a "shadow of things to come" (Col. 2:17).

The festivals, new moons, and annual Sabbaths (Day of Atonement, Passover, and Feasts of Tabernacles), including the meat and drink offerings celebrated on those days, are the ones referred to in Colossians 2:16. In fact, God's word expressly distinguishes the annual Jewish festivals from the weekly seventh-day Sabbaths, or the Sabbaths of the Lord:

"These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: Beside the sabbaths of the LORD." Leviticus 23:37, 38.

Unlike the other feasts, which were instituted after sin entered the world, the weekly day of rest was established before sin, at the very creation of our world. It was sanctified by God on the seventh day of creation, serving as a perpetual reminder of His creative power. Enshrined in the Ten Commandments, the weekly Sabbath is given a place of special prominence, with the Fourth Commandment calling on all people to "remember" and keep it holy. Thus, the weekly Sabbath not only predates sin and human history but also serves as an enduring symbol reminding us that God is our Creator.

The weekly Sabbath is not a shadow or symbol of something that was to come, but rather it serves as a reminder of what has already been. Unlike other ceremonial practices that foreshadowed future events, such as the sacrificial system pointing to the Messiah, the Sabbath directs our attention backward to the origin of our creation. According to the biblical account in Genesis, after six days of creating the heavens, the earth, and all living beings, God rested on the seventh day. This rest was not due to fatigue but was an intentional act to sanctify and bless the seventh day, setting it apart from all others as holy. The weekly Sabbath is a timeless institution, not tied to some future fulfillment but firmly rooted in the past.

The weekly Sabbath is also portrayed in the Bible as an eternal institution, one that transcends time and extends into the new earth. Established at Creation and reaffirmed in the Ten Commandments, the Sabbath is not a temporary observance but a perpetual covenant between God and His people. In Isaiah 66:22–23, God reveals that from one Sabbath to another, all flesh will come to worship before Him in the new earth, indicating that the Sabbath will continue to be honored even in eternity. This continuity emphasizes the Sabbath's enduring significance as a symbol of God's creative and redemptive work, offering a timeless rhythm of rest and worship that will be joyfully observed in the renewed creation, where peace, harmony, and communion with God are fully restored.

Tragically, Catholic Answers provides no real Bible to validate the keeping of Sunday. They simply quote from the Catholic Catechism. Establishing doctrines based on man-made traditions rather than Scripture is not biblical and contradicts the teachings of Jesus. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus consistently rebukes the religious leaders of His time for placing human traditions above the commandments of God. In Matthew 15:9, Jesus clearly states, "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men," highlighting the danger of allowing man-made teachings to overshadow divine revelation. True doctrine must be grounded in the Word of God, as Scripture alone is the authoritative and inspired guide for faith and practice.

Apparently, the Catholics who wrote that being quoted in the above quoted article, do not see the hypocrisy of their position. Demanding that no one need keep the fourth commandment of God anymore by faith or otherwise, while demanding that even civil laws enforce their created day of worship upon all of the faith or not. What is forced Sunday rest by sacred Sunday believers, but forced worship. What does the final beast of biblical prophecy do, but force a certain type of worship upon all, creating an image to the beast before it which did the same thing. That is the Catholic faith controlling and manipulating the leaders of the "Holy Roman Empire". Who themselves also forced Sunday sacredness upon all. So be it, as God's prophetic word has determined.

Excellent video regarding the manipulated war between Democrats and Republicans, and the results of each party moving back and forth unto more radical outcomes. A Sunday law being one of those radical intentions of the right, in response to the lefts ever increasingly radical amoral tendencies. Of course as I have always testified, I believe this is all intentional manipulation from a third entity employing the Hegelian Dialectic upon this country and most of Europe, if not the world. That entity being the Papacy, whose adherents line both sides of the political isles in this and many European nations. Thus the oft and truthful claims of many concerning the Uniparty that is actually in control, manipulating both sides of the isle unto predetermined outcomes concerning real and or created crisis. Basically, the intoxication of the political and religious leaders and their adherents or constituents the world over, by the wine of BABYLON THE GREAT.

Jer 51:6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD'S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence. 7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. 8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed. 9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

http://adventmessenger.org/on-the-last-day-of-the-olympic-games-us-catholic-bishop-robert-barron-advocated-for-sports-free-sunday-on-fox-news/

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteOn the Last Day of the Olympic Games, US Catholic Bishop Robert Barron Advocated for Sports-Free Sunday on Fox News

Roman Catholic Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester in Minnesota argued on one of the most influential news networks in the country and during the most significant sporting event in the world that it is important to give God the glory in sports by abstaining from competition on Sundays, which he called the Sabbath. This was the message he delivered on nationwide television during an interview with Fox News on Sunday, August 11, 2024, as the Olympic competitions were coming to an end.

The Catholic Church is now advocating their Sunday rest message during media interviews and is calling for the need to respect God in sports by urging for a return to the tradition of keeping Sundays free from organized games and competitions. And as always, the media has become the spokesperson for the church, giving Rome access to a far wider audience and platform to spread their Sunday message to a wider public.

Fox News published the following:

"Bishop Robert Barron offered the example of Scottish Olympian Eric Liddell as proof that achieving athletic excellence should be about ultimately giving glory to God."

• "In light of the ongoing Paris Summer Olympics, Barron spoke to Fox News Digital about Liddell, the Scottish gold medalist whose choice to forego a surefire gold medal win in honor of the Sabbath – and his subsequent gold medal win in the 400-meter race in the 1924 games – was immortalized in the movie "Chariots of Fire."

• "Liddell's powerful story in the 1924 Olympic Games, also held in Paris that year, is memorable not only because of his supreme running ability, but because of how he displayed his deep Christian faith. Thanks to his talent, Liddell was considered a shoo-in for the gold medal in the 100-meter dash but declined to race because it fell on a Sunday, the Sabbath. "

• "Instead, Liddell opted for a race on a later date that he was supposedly less adept at, the 400-meter, though he won the gold, reaching the finish line a full meter ahead of the silver-medalist and beating the previous 400-meter world record, a moment powerfully depicted in the 1981 film."

• "He also told Fox that the attitude people should have about sports, like any other earthly pursuit, is that it should be done for God's glory."

Whether it's a car-free Sunday, a work-free Sunday, or a sports-free Sunday, it all works the same. The Catholic prelate's message to the sports world is to set aside Sunday as a day free from scheduled sporting events, placing an emphasis on rest, spiritual reflection, and family time instead of the usual activities tied to competitive sports. Sunday is being referred to as the Sabbath on national television because, despite the lack of biblical evidence, Rome regards it as the holy day for rest and worship.

Observing a sports-free Sunday aligns with the belief that this day should be dedicated to Eucharistic worship, and by promoting no sports on this day, the Catholic Church aims to preserve the sanctity of Sunday as the official day of rest.

"When our nation shall so abjure the principles of its government as to enact a Sunday law, Protestantism will in this act join hands with popery; it will be nothing else than giving life to the tyranny which has long been eagerly watching its opportunity to spring again into active despotism" (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 711).

"If popery or its principles shall again be legislated into power, the fires of persecution will be rekindled against those who will not sacrifice conscience and the truth in deference to popular errors. This evil is on the point of realization" (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 712).

"Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul, and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation of Spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome. The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of Spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience" (Great Controversy, p. 588).

The only way to stop it for now at least, is for Americans to stand up for their own, or others rights to do as they please on Sundays and or any other day of the week. This will of course become increasingly difficult as the calamities our Lord has predicted, begin to transpire with even more frequency than at present. When people become afraid and accept that these are the judgements of God, and seek to appease him in national "repentance". Which will undoubtedly include the establishment of Sunday sacredness.

http://adventmessenger.org/according-to-a-us-catholic-publication-the-blue-laws-made-it-easier-to-worship-on-sunday-and-the-state-has-a-duty-to-protect-this-day/

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteAccording to a US Catholic Publication, the Blue Laws Made it Easier to Worship on Sunday and the State has a Duty to Protect This Day

On August 28, 2024, an article titled "The Rest of Ordinary Time" was published in The Pilot, which is regarded as the oldest Catholic publication in America. According to the article, Sunday was given to us by God for our physical and spiritual well-being and we are unable to reap its benefits due to the fast-paced lifestyle of contemporary society.  The Pilot expressed that when the Blue Laws were in effect, it was easier to enjoy the benefits of rest and worship, and that perhaps recovering Sunday is even more urgent today.

The Pilot stated the following about Sunday rest and worship:

• "I know that Sunday is a day we are commanded to 'keep holy' and that it is a day to be set aside for rest, just as God Himself rested on the seventh day. I know that Sunday should be devoted first and foremost to the worship of God and, then, for that sacred rest that allows us to recreate ourselves and spend time caring for and being cared for by our loved ones. I know that there is a loving God who planned this order of things, knowing that rest refreshes and renews."

• "Yet, it is so easy to resist this plan. Sundays, it seems, have become just as hectic as the other six days of the week. Stores bustle with shoppers. Work emails are sent and received. Online orders are filled and ubiquitous delivery trucks prowl the neighborhoods. The early morning cacophony of lawn mowers and string trimmers breaks the peace of quiet streets, while Sunday traffic jams rival those of weekdays. Youth sports – even in Catholic leagues and Catholic schools – maintain grueling Sunday schedules. Many employers, customers, and clients now expect 24-7 availability, not merely 24-6 access. The urge to keep up with others and not fall behind makes it ever more difficult to see Sunday as a special day, distinct and different from the others."

• "It is easy to look back with nostalgia at a time when so-called 'blue laws' slowed the treadmill of life a bit and may have made it easier to keep Sundays as a day of worship and rest. Nevertheless, even though it seems harder now, the importance of a restful, prayerful Sunday may be more urgent than ever before."

• "Our attitudes toward Sundays are especially worth reflecting upon as our nation celebrates Labor Day."

• "In a particular way, labor leaders influenced by Catholic social teaching fought strenuously for the right of workers to have their Sundays as a day of worship and rest. In 1891, Pope Leo XIII spoke of this in 'Rerum Novarum.' In addressing the obligation to protect workers on their days of rest and worship, he wrote that a worker 'has interests in which he should be protected by the State; and first of all, there are the interests of his soul. ... From this follows the obligation of the cessation from work and labor on Sundays and certain holy days."

• "As a new season comes and we celebrate the dignity of workers, there is a chance to think of Sundays anew, to recommit to their sacred purpose, and celebrate the holy rest of ordinary time."

Rome is intentionally pushing to make Sunday the day of rest not just in America but also for the world. The Sunday rest advocates are not slowing down with their effort to generate interest for the reinstatement of the Blue Laws. There is a growing sentiment in society that says we should return to the good old days when family, church, and Sunday were at the center of public and private life. This is a call to fast-tracking measures that will strike directly against religious liberty.

Freedom of religion has been one of America's most cherished liberties and one of the reasons why America became a great refuge for the persecuted. On the other hand, Blue Laws mandated Sunday rest. People were urged to attend church on Sundays by these oppressive religious laws. They discriminated against minorities who kept the seventh-day Sabbath, Saturday, holy while helping the Sunday-keeping majority. Those who disobeyed these rest mandates were also subject to fines and imprisonment under the blue laws.

Great horrors await this nation if this trend continues. Now is the time for the third angel's message to be proclaimed with power. May we share the present truth, God's last-day message to this perishing world.

"They are working in blindness. They do not see that if a Protestant government sacrifices the principles that have made them a free, independent nation, and through legislation brings into the Constitution, principles that will propagate papal falsehoods and papal delusions, they are plunging into the Roman horrors of the Dark Ages" (Review and Herald, December 11, 1888).

Manifest of the Steering Committee of the European Sunday Alliance on the occasion of the EU elections 2024

Achieving a common day of rest for workers in the EU

The European Sunday Alliance is a network of national Sunday Alliances, trade unions, civil society organizations and religious communities committed to raising awareness of the unique value of synchronised free time for our European societies.

It is coordinated by a Steering Committee bringing together the Commission of the Bishops' Conference of the EU (COMECE), the Protestant Church in Germany (Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland, EKD), the European Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (CESI), the Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe (FAFCE), the European Services Workers Union (UNI Europa), Don Bosco International (DBI), the Jesuit European Social Centre (JESC), the International Young Christian Workers (JOCI-IYCW), the German Sunday Alliance, and the Austrian Sunday Alliance.

On the occasion of the EU elections in June 2024, the Steering Committee of the European Sunday Alliance invites interested policy makers to support the role of synchronised free time as a key element in addressing mental health issues and loneliness in our society, in particular by:

1. ensuring that all relevant EU legislation and non-legislative measures respect and promote the protection of a common weekly day of rest for all people living and working in the EU, which shall be in principle on a Sunday, in order to protect workers' health, promote a better work-life balance, and foster adequate time especially for families and young workers for worship and community, social & religious engagement.

2. promoting EU legislation guaranteeing sustainable working time patterns, including through a right to disconnect and based on the principle of decent work benefiting individual workers and thus society as well as the economy as a whole.

3. considering the great value and positive impact of synchronised free time on Sundays when it comes to finding solutions to urgent challenges of our time such as loneliness and related mental health issues.

Amo,

IF "Sunday Law" were to be enacted would it affect you?

Have you read anything that would stop any religious service from happening on other days of the week?

Do you remember when all stores were closed and only places that sold food were allowed to be open on Sundays?

I do.

I also remember when a work week was 5 days with 2 days off. If one was lucky to have Saturday and Sunday... or Sunday and Monday.. Great.

I had the later for a long time.

You still could do your expected SDA things on Saturday, and then come Sunday have a solid day of rest with zero expectations....

I never read they would stop SDA from Saturdays or my Jewish Friends from Friday nights....

Might have missed it but then ????????///

Jaime

I would imagine one impediment to Sunday Law in this country would be that the Muslim holy day is Friday all day. The Muslim population likely would not stand for it, if I understand Sunday Law.

Jaime... I dont really follow this so tell me.

In a Sunday law it it specified one HAS to worship on Sunday. No atheist or agnostic would.

If y'all afraid of losing Sunday sports... well...

If y"all afraid of not going to the local wherever for a drink.... well..

They can have their Fridays... The SDA can have their Saturdays... and they both would benefit from another day of rest.

We are the ones who lose out but then I have truied for Sat and Sun for years. ::noworries::

I guess the SDAs are afraid of being banned to worship on any day but Sunday. That's the opposition to Sunday Laws not the missing out on sports. If someone is atheistnor ag ostic, they aren't affected by Sunday laws as Inunderstand it. The fear is IF you worship it would be mandated on Sunday.

On September 22, 2024, over 100 million people in 1,500 cities worldwide will celebrate Car-Free Sunday, a global event that encourages motorists to leave their cars at home for a day. This initiative, promoted by organizations like the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) and sponsored by the European Commission, aims to raise awareness about sustainable transportation and to provide a glimpse of what cities would look like with fewer cars. National Today notes that Car-Free Sunday has evolved from a European event to a global movement, with cities worldwide closing their centers to cars and encouraging alternative transportation methods.

The choice of Sunday for this event is strategic, as Sunday is widely recognized as a day of rest, family gatherings, and worship. By dedicating Sunday to environmental activities, proponents aim to align ecological sustainability with a collective day of rest. However, this also raises concerns among some who see it as a step towards enforcing Sunday observance more broadly. The popularity of combining Sunday rest with environmental action suggests a growing trend, and it remains to be seen how this movement will influence future policies and societal norms.

Quote from: Rella on Mon Sep 09, 2024 - 07:39:27Amo,

The Sunday law is just the beginning of the end. A national Sunday law will be rapidly followed by national ruin. The judgments of God in the seven last plagues of the book of Revelation. When the judgments begin, the deceived will be looking for someone to blame. Those who have been warning them of the danger of such a law will become the targets of their pride and fear. They will eventually outlaw seventh day sabbath observance, and persecute and imprison those who refuse to stop, just as in the dark ages.

Christians cannot go back and reestablish what once was, during the Reformation processes of growth in greater knowledge of biblical truth, when leaving Babylon behind. If they choose to go back and reestablish both Babylon's established day of worship, and Babylon's unity and authority over government, the judgments of God will be poured out upon these willing subjects of BABYLON THE GREAT. They will have willingly and knowledgeably returned to Babylon, thereby rejecting the truth and therefore Christ our Lord also, who is the way, the truth, and the life. The following prophetic words of the apostle Paul shall be fulfilled.

2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

The books of Daniel and Revelation delve deeper into Paul's prophecy above. The book of Revelation more specifically addressing BABYLON THE GREAT'S intricate involvement with the final beasts of biblical prophecy. Her relationship with the kings or leaders of the world, the rich and powerful, conglomerate corporations, international organizations, and even entertainers of the world as well. These who are and will be key figures in establishing the mark of the beast which will be forced upon all, in cooperation with the Church of Rome and her apostate "Christian" and other religious allies. They will help her establish her mark of authority by law upon all, which is Sunday sacredness created and established by her own.

When this abomination of desolation is placed once again in the place of God's holy sabbath by global law, the desolating effects of God's judgment will begin to be poured out upon humanity in rebellion against their God. For much greater detail concerning these events, see -

Well, I was going to direct you to a thread I posted years ago, addressing this subject in detail. But it has apparently been removed, I suppose while the board was down for quite some time. I will therefore begin to repost the book posted on that thread. As the author of this unpublished work, there should be no legal issues. Look for the title Sabbath, Sunday, and the Abomination of Desolation, or S,S,& A of B.

I found the link I was looking for concerning the history and prophetic significance of Sunday sacredness in relation to God's true sabbath. I was looking to far back for it, as I posted it about ten years ago. The following link Rella, is the one I intended in response to your post.

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteEvangelicals, Labor Unions, and Retailers Join Forces to Campaign to Keep Sunday Special

The Evangelical Alliance and the Church of England have partnered with a number of trade unions and retail alliances to work to keep Sunday special in society throughout the United Kingdom. Members of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents, the Federation of Wholesale Distributors, the National Federation of Sup-Postmasters, the Association of Convenience Stores, the Union of Shop, Distributive, and Allied Workers, and other organizations have banded together to act in defense of Sunday. Retailers and labor unions have supported the church's efforts to establish Sunday as the day of rest for society.

All this is helping to fulfill the following prediction made in the Spirit of Prophecy:

"There will be a universal bond of union, one great harmony, a confederacy of Satan's forces. 'And shall give their power and strength unto the beast.' Thus is manifested the same arbitrary, oppressive power against religious liberty—freedom to worship God according to the dictates of conscience—as was manifested by the papacy, when in the past it persecuted those who dared to refuse to conform with the religious rites and ceremonies of Romanism." (Selected Messages, Vol. 3, p. 392).

The same aggressive measures that were used to enforce health mandates during the pandemic will soon be used to enforce Sunday rest. This will lead to the ultimate destruction of our civil and religious liberties. This "Keep Sunday Special" initiative is being driven by churches. They are fighting to secure Sunday by petitioning lawmakers across the UK. They are asking fellow church goers to get involved in the fight to keep Sunday special.

This endeavor aligns with Rome's commitment to safeguard Sunday worldwide. This means that Rome's Sunday movement will have the full support of the Protestant churches, the labor sectors, the retailers, and the politicians. Basically, we are witnessing the different segments of society coming to the aid of Rome to advance her goal. It is clear that the world is ready to unite its forces to propel the counterfeit Sabbath to the forefront.

And if governments begin to pass policies that favor Sunday rest legislation, we will have no one to thank but apostate Protestants who have committed themselves to this downward path with Rome. This is a clear sign and warning that Sunday laws are inevitable. Although many do not recognize it, the result is clear: laws will soon be passed that will impose the mark of the beast.

"Sooner or later Sunday laws will be passed. But there is much for God's servants to do to warn the people. This work has been greatly retarded by their having to wait and stand against the devisings of Satan, which have been striving to find a place in our work. We are years behind" (Review and Herald, February 16, 1905).

That may be true if present rates of immigrating Muslims, and births to and within the UK do not slow down. Even so, Muslims will no doubt still respect and or support Sunday laws. As they are ever increasing relations with Roman Catholicism, and also do not believe in the separation of church and state.

Attending Mass on Saturday fulfills the Sunday obligation...
...This is Catholic law & it's true to say that in the U.S. alone.
...More Catholics go to Church on Saturday than there are SDA's.

For the Catholic Church to outlaw going to Church on Saturday...
...Would default into the Catholic Church ceasing to be Catholic.
...You would have a better chance if:

An army of Sasquatch scientists created a cure for all diseases known to man.

In other-words the idea of a National Sunday law is idiotic and akin to thanking Jesus for Triceratops.

Yes, one massive migration of Catholics after another which continues to this very day, has greatly increased their numbers in this once predominantly Protestant nation. Nothing to see here, move along.

Hmmmm, and yet -

QuoteThe Synod of Laodicea - 343-381 A.D. - furnishes a decree which is quoted by many:
"Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday [Sabbatum is always used for the Sabbath and is translated Saturday in the English edition of Hefele], but shall work on that day; but the Lord's-day they shall especially honor, and as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing they shall be shut out from Christ. (Canon 29, Hefele, Vol. 2, p. 316.)

Pope Gregory I (AD 590-604) said :
"Gregory, bishop by the grace of God to his well-beloved sons, the Roman citizens: It has come to me that certain men of perverse spirit have disseminated among you things depraved and opposed to the holy faith, so that they forbid anything to be done on the day of the Sabbath. What shall I call them except preachers of anti-Christ?." Epistles of Gregory I, b.13, epist.1, found in Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers.

Chap.4
59....................More than a "replacement" for the Sabbath, therefore, Sunday is its fulfilment, and in a certain sense its extension and full expression in the ordered unfolding of the history of salvation, which reaches its culmination in Christ.

62. It is the duty of Christians therefore to remember that, although the practices of the Jewish Sabbath are gone, surpassed as they are by the "fulfilment" which Sunday brings, the underlying reasons for keeping "the Lord's Day" holy — inscribed solemnly in the Ten Commandments — remain valid, though they need to be reinterpreted in the light of the theology and spirituality of Sunday: "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Six days you shall labour, and do all your work; but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. Then you shall do no work, you, or your son, or your daughter, or your servant, or your maid, or your ox, or your ass, or any of your beasts, or the foreigner within your gates, that your servant and maid may rest as well as you. You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God commanded that you keep the Sabbath day" (Dt 5:12-15). Here the Sabbath observance is closely linked with the liberation which God accomplished for his people.

63. Christ came to accomplish a new "exodus", to restore freedom to the oppressed. He performed many healings on the Sabbath (cf. Mt 12:9-14 and parallels), certainly not to violate the Lord's Day, but to reveal its full meaning: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mk 2:27). Opposing the excessively legalistic interpretation of some of his contemporaries, and developing the true meaning of the biblical Sabbath, Jesus, as "Lord of the Sabbath" (Mk 2:28), restores to the Sabbath observance its liberating character, carefully safeguarding the rights of God and the rights of man. This is why Christians, called as they are to proclaim the liberation won by the blood of Christ, felt that they had the authority to transfer the meaning of the Sabbath to the day of the Resurrection. The Passover of Christ has in fact liberated man from a slavery more radical than any weighing upon an oppressed people — the slavery of sin, which alienates man from God, and alienates man from himself and from others, constantly sowing within history the seeds of evil and violence.

Canon 29

Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ.

The Canons of the Eastern Orthodox Church

II Nicaeanum (787)

Canon VIII.
That Hebrews ought not to be received unless they have been converted in sincerity of heart.

Since certain, erring in the superstitions of the Hebrews, have thought to mock at Christ our God, and feigning to be converted to the religion of Christ do deny him, and in private and secretly keep the Sabbath and observe other Jewish customs, we decree that such persons be not received to communion, nor to prayers, nor into the Church; but let them be openly Hebrews according to their religion, and let them not bring their children to baptism, nor purchase or possess a slave. But if any of them, out of a sincere heart and in faith, is converted and makes profession with his whole heart, setting at naught their customs and observances, and so that others may be convinced and converted, such an one is to be received and baptized, and his children likewise; and let them be taught to take care to hold aloof from the ordinances of the Hebrews. But if they will not do this, let them in no wise be received.

Second Council of Nicaea - 787 A.D. part two

CANONS

8

Since some of those who come from the religion of the Hebrews mistakenly think to make a mockery of Christ who is God, pretending to become Christians, but denying Christ in private by both secretly continuing to observe the sabbath and maintaining other Jewish practices, we decree that they shall not be received to communion or at prayer or into the church, but rather let them openly be Hebrews according to their own religion; they should not baptize their children or buy, or enter into possession of, a slave. But if one of them makes his conversion with a sincere faith and heart, and pronounces his confession wholeheartedly, disclosing their practices and objects in the hope that others may be refuted and corrected, such a person should be welcomed and baptized along with his children, and care should be taken that they abandon Hebrew practices. However if they are not of this sort, they should certainly not be welcomed.

http://adventmessenger.org/churches-and-trade-unions-join-forces-to-close-supermarkets-on-sunday/

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteChurches and Trade Unions Join Forces to Close Supermarkets on Sunday

The Christian Institute is a nondenominational Christian organization with more than 60,000 supporters and more than 5,000 churches that is dedicated to "the furtherance and promotion of the Christian religion in the United Kingdom and elsewhere."  On October 3, 2024, the Christian Institute published an article detailing how Christian leaders and union leaders are coming together to petition for the closing of businesses on Sunday.

The Christian Institute reported:

• "Church leaders on the Isle of Lewis are urging Tesco (Supermarket) to abandon plans to open on Sundays. Ministers from the Reformed Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland have called on the supermarket chain to respect the island's long-standing Sabbath observance, as it consults staff about opening seven days a week."

• "Currently, Tesco's Stornoway store is its only UK branch to remain closed on Sundays. Co-op, the island's only other large supermarket, also shuts on a Sunday. Rev. Greg McDonald, a Free Church of Scotland minister, told BBC Radio Scotland: "Only by trusting in Jesus as our Saviour will people be forgiven. Anything that makes it harder for the shelf stacker, or van driver, or anyone else to come to church to hear that message, I take as a mistake."

• "Earlier this year, a top union representative said that restricting Sunday trading hours for online businesses and deliveries would benefit families. John Barstow, an Executive Council Member of the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW), said that society would benefit from a break in trading, rather than dispensing with Sunday trading hours for high street shops in England and Wales so they can compete with online stores."

Despite being unlikely allies, churches and labor unions are finding common ground in a shared campaign for Sunday rest. Traditionally, labor unions have focused on workers' rights and economic justice, while churches emphasize spiritual renewal and moral values. However, both sides are working to secure Sunday as the day of rest for society.

Labor unions, while historically claiming to seek to protect the rights of workers, have employed disruptive tactics to push for their demands. Some of the more notorious antics include shutting down entire industries, deliberately reducing productivity to cripple companies, and, in some cases, sabotage. We are reminded that labor unions will be one of the agencies that will help bring about the great time of trouble.

"The trades unions will be one of the agencies that will bring upon this earth a time of trouble such as has not been since the world began" (Selected Messages, Vol. 2, p. 142).

When labor unions and church leaders collectively work together to stop Sunday trading, you know that we are quickly reaching this time of trouble. While religious institutions seek to restore Sunday as a time for community worship, labor unions argue that Sunday rest combats work burnouts. In any case, these two groups are working together to promote regulations designating Sunday as a day of rest, which appeals to both secular and religious motives.

"The time is fast coming when the controlling power of the labor unions will be very oppressive. Again and again the Lord has instructed that our people are to take their families away from the cities, into the country, where they can raise their own provisions; for in the future the problem of buying and selling will be a very serious one" (Selected Messages, Vol. 2, p. 141).

Amo goes on to quote from Laodicea

What you intentionally withhold from Laodicea is that the early Church was condemning Christians from claiming that they had to be observant Jews to be saved Christians. The Church was absolutely RIGHT to prohibit that kind of behavior. Look at the text again, it condemns Christians for secretly observing the Sabbath AND OTHER JEWISH ACTS.

Read Acts Chapter 15 again Amo, you'll see from Scripture that anyone advocating Christians observe Jewish acts for salvation DIDN'T have any authority to claim such things and were in fact working AGAINST the Apostles.

I can appreciate how this fact fly's in the face of the SDA narrative but it's accurate. Own it Amo. I don't think Christians condemn SDA's for their devotion to the Sabbath - they are condemned for teaching things contrary to the Gospel of Christ. I'm speaking of the SDA proclivity of boasting Christ could have sinned and lost His Salvation - THIS is anti-Trinitarian and absolutely contrary to the Gospel. This is the issue, not your devotion to the Sabbath (which if anything is commendable.

Holy scripture says nowhere, either to stop observing God's seventh day sabbath, or to start observing a first day or Sunday sabbath. I am not the one taking away from, or adding to the holy scriptures. This is what the Catholic church has, does, and will continue to do.

I am not intentionally withholding information from anyone. None of the quotes I supplied mention any teaching claiming that one must keep certain Jewish ordinances in order to be saved. Please do provide further context from the documents I quoted, stating that this is what those choosing to observe God's seventh day sabbath or other suggested Jewish customs were teaching. No one can be saved by keeping God's commandments, but many will be lost for breaking them. As all are lost because of their condemnation by the law, who will not accept the gift of salvation found in and through the Lord Jesus Christ alone.

The Catholic church decided to cut off every professed Christian that believed the following words of Jesus Christ applied to all the commandments of God, including the fourth.

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Those who believed the above words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ over and above the conflicting testimony of the Catholic church and others, chose to continue their faith apart from this institution by refusing to acknowledge its authority over them. I do not care what Catholics or anyone else decides to call or label me, my intention is to follow the example of the life and teachings of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Whom I do not believe any of the Apostles contradicted in any way shape or form, in their teachings and writings. Though a great many contradicting teachings arose among professed Christinas after their departure as the Apostle Paul himself warned would happen.

You and those before you as quoted in my previous post which you are addressing, claim that those who did or will continue to keep God's seventh day sabbath are in error. We claim that you are. We continue to admonish all to keep God's seventh day sabbath by faith in His word alone, and Sunday keepers continue to resort to civil legislation to force everyone to keep their chosen day. This is the testimony of history over and again. So be it, as God's word predicted it would transpire.
