Did you guys know that women do porn as much as men - maybe even your wife?

I will give you my evidence for this but first just want to ask if anyone knows what i am on about?

I just read an article on MSN (I think) that just casually mentioned that to audiences as if it were common knowledge. Something like "We've all seen this in porn." I was kind of grossed out by what was described after that.

Early in our marriage, my wife and I would *sometimes* look at porn together.  We both concluded that it didn't do much for us.

My observation, based on what little I've seen, is that most of these films are structured more-or-less as follows:

• Brief intro scene
• First action scene
• First brief transition scene
• Second action scene
• Second brief transition scene
• Third action scene
• Third brief transition scene
• Fourth action scene
• ...
• Brief concluding scene

The "action" scenes consist of a mix of coitus and fellatio, with an emphasis on watching the male member going in-and-out-and-in-and-out-and-in-and-out-and-in-and-out-and-in-and-out-and-in-and-out, in what becomes a tediously monotonous rhythm.  The impression I get is that this "action"-oriented format appeals to the same crowd that is drawn to the "car chase" movies and the "shoot-em-up" movies.  Hard to think of this appealing to anyone over the age of 16, but also hard to think of it appealing to the average woman, since they simply aren't wired the same as we are, and don't react the same way to visual stimuli.

However, I have heard it said that the "soap operas" are a kind of female porn, and I think there's some truth to that.  Like porn, they present a completely artificial "fantasy" environment, but designed to appeal to a specific prurient interest, which in this case is knowing all the intimate details of everyone else's private life (note the emphasis on relationship, as opposed to the simply physical).  These shows are like one extended gossip session.

Actually there is a whole other style of porn written and directed by women for women.  It has a similar structure to the romance novels.  It is often called erotica.
