James Stewart Russell was a leader of the modern preteristic movement in the 1800s [his book ....The Parousia] .... a later advocate and follower of Russell is R.C. Leonard [his book .... The Promise of His Coming] .... both postmillennial, reformation, re-constructionists

When Leonard gets around to telling us why he has shoved all of New Testament eschatology into the past, thus annihilating the expectation of Christ's coming, this is what he says:

"This provides the incentive for the church militant, the followers of Jesus Christ engaging the distortions and inequities of a godless culture, and laying the foundation for the continual reconstruction of society according to the principles of God's covenant law. Christians have no biblical warrant for withdrawing from this struggle in the hope that Christ will appear, sooner or later, to execute the sanctions of the end. The last days have come and gone, leaving the church on earth where Christ intended it to be" [The Promise of His Coming, p. 208]

Sound familiar?
The carnal kingdom of "Jewish dreams"

A "kingdom now" dominion theology that tells of the "church " ruling the earth which will eventually lead to a perfect world conjured up by the preterists ...."things are getting better and better" they say .... and yet any rational person can see the folly of this unrealistic concept of a sin laden worldwide population of 7 billion today

Christian Reconstruction is committed, willy-nilly, to the full-blown, consistent preterism that strips the church and the Christian of all future  hope and salvation that will be manifested in the believer at the Lord's coming [1Corinthians 15:21-23; 15:51-58; Romans 8]

The gospel of hope of the "Reformed", preteristic, amillennial, biblical eschatology is folly

Today's popular pushers of preterism are Hank Hannegraaff, RC Sproul, David Chilton, and Ken Gentry to name a few

All of this is the same heretical preteristic teaching of the early "church fathers" [Augustine, Origen, and others] of the RCC dressed up in a new package by direct contenders of the RCC .... yet both teach the same false end time exegesis of the prophetic scriptures [there is a common source for all of this .... the devil himself]

Preterism destroys the Christian hope: the soon-coming of Jesus Christ our Lord in the body to raise our bodies from the dead and to take us unto Himself

Preterists are the scoffers of 2Peter 3:4 and they ask, "Where is the promise of his coming?" And with Hymenaeus and Philetus, they say that "the resurrection is past already" [2Timothy 2:18]

It is rejection of the Christian hope with a vengeance .... nothing of the believer's hope is left according to Russell

Here is what he himself said at the conclusion of his butchering of the Lord's prophetic word:

Russell admits as much. Having annihilated the expectation of Christ's coming on the part of the church and the Christian, he imagines his readers asking, "Whither are we tending? What is to be the end and consummation of human history?" Indeed! What are our prospects? What were the prospects of the believers and their children after A.D. 70?

Russell's answer?

"Scripture prophecy guides us no further"

"Where nothing has been revealed it would be the height of presumption to prognosticate the future"

"God's Word leaves us completely in the dark as regards the future"

One can see that Russell was a man with no hope .... the church and the believer are hopeless according to Russell

Since we are saved by hope, according to Romans 8:24, preterism strips today's believer of salvation

Do not be deceived and follow this false teaching .... it is pure heresy .... nothing is more heretical than to boldly reject the Lord's more sure word of prophecy [2Peter 1:16-21]

No one can possibly fail to detect the aberrant false doctrine

Linker clips an article from one of his end-time madness preachers who hates correction from Preterists.

Linker merely repeats the hatred sentiment without ever knowing or reading James S. Russell's book from 1886 "The Parousia." Linker won't study but he wants you to listen to his ramblings.

Linker's hung up on unfulfilled hope. He confuses the general term "hope." as in faith, hope and charity, with his hope that Jesus will burst through the skies and destroy all unbelievers because they don't believe in Him.
Linker doesn't know God's will.

That hope of Linker's makes the heart sick from long deferment. It is not God's tree of life.

I think it is 17th century Roman church Jesuit Luis Alcazar that is actually credited with modern preterism by way of his counter-reformation efforts. Just as 16th century Jesuit Francisco Ribera is credited with his counter-reformation futurist eschatology that was later adjusted and embellished by 19th century John Nelson Darby by way of Jesuit Manuel Diaz Lacunza in between. The Reformers didn't buy into either eschatology, but rather continued on in the traditional historicist approach. That is, taking a uniform approach to all Bible prophecy.

Linker's hung up on unfulfilled hope. He confuses the general term "hope." as in faith, hope and charity, with his hope that Jesus will burst through the skies and destroy all unbelievers because they don't believe in Him.

A pastor that planted 5 churches in Syria refused to renounce Jesus Christ and parrot the pure blasphemy of the Islamic shahada (statement of "faith") "There is no God by Allah and Muhammad is his messenger." He had to watch as his young son's (who also refused to say it), fingers were cut off in front of him in efforts to strong-arm him into parroting the shahada, followed by the beheading of his young son and public rape of women that were present. Nothing new.

Tabari VIII:35/Ishaq:464 "The Jews were made to come down, and Allah's Messenger imprisoned them. Then the Prophet went out into the marketplace of Medina (it is still its marketplace today), and he had trenches dug in it. He sent for the Jewish men and had them beheaded in those trenches. They were brought out to him in batches. They numbered 800 to 900 boys and men."

Bukhari:V5B59N459 Narrated Ibn Muhairiz: I entered the Mosque and saw Abu Said Al-Khudri and sat beside him and asked him about Al-Azl (i.e. coitus interruptus). Abu Said said, "We went out with Allah's Apostle for the Ghazwa of Banu Al-Mustaliq and we received captives from among the Arab captives and we desired women and celibacy became hard on us and we loved to do coitus interruptus."

Is the preterist's "blessed hope" that Satan be allowed to continue visiting the misery and on non-Islamic folks through more of the same and worse? Piling on to the tens of thousands of deadly Islamic terror attacks that have already been perpetrated around the world just since 9-11?

Quran Surah 8:12 I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them

Hope that the world's justice becomes Islamic justice as it is throughout John's whole world (with the exception of Israel)? Hope that everyone is forced to say the shahada, or face beheading, as in the Middle East today? Hope that divine justice will not be served until those reprobates die? Certainly not too hard for someone to hold such a view while sitting back comfy in a lazy-boy chair in the west. Perhaps a vacation to a quaint little Somalian town would help open some eyes:

AP - December 06, 2006 MOGADISHU, Somalia - "Residents of a southern Somalia town who do not pray five times a day will be beheaded, an Islamic courts official said Wednesday, adding the edict will be implemented in three days."

Preterists often claim they ascribe to an ethnographic view of bible prophecy, as do I, and as Strong's suggests:

whole world
New Testament Greek Definition:
3625 oikoumene {oy-kou-men'-ay}
feminine participle present passive of 3611 (as noun, by
implication of 1093); TDNT - 5:157,674; n f
AV - world 14, earth 1; 15
1) the inhabited earth
1a) the portion of the earth inhabited by the Greeks, in
distinction from the lands of the barbarians

1b) the Roman empire, all the subjects of the empire
1c) the whole inhabited earth, the world
1d) the inhabitants of the earth, men
2) the universe, the world

Have you looked at a map of the spiritual condition of the prophet John's "world" lately? Outside of the tiny little strip of land of Israel (that anti-Zionists are helping Muhammad's followers conquer), where God given rights to freedom, liberty and self-determination are protected by the democracy of the Israeli Jewish State, virtually everyone in John's world have already received the mark or name of THE false prophet Muhammad's Islamic kingdom "beast", with many of those countries at or near 100% Muslim rendering the mark of the beast to be a fulfilled prophecy. While Muhammad's orthodox followers continue to wipe out the tiny remnant of non-Muslims that remain, as I write.

My blessed hope is indeed looking for the Second Coming of my great Lord and Savior and His divine judgment, to avenge the blood of those slain for their testimony - today would not be a day too soon.
It is indeed a far cry from the preterism that eats at the body of Christ as gangrene.

Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

How long, O Lord, indeed!

Indeed Linker. What is familiar to me is that partial preterist denominations tend toward being dead institutions, that cast aside church ordinances and ordain women and homosexuals, with a bunch of old ladies occupying pews one day a week. The same supersessionist anti-Zionist institutions that rail against Israel, while they dabble in ecumenism and even interfaith pluralism, during this period of the "falling away" or apostasy of the church. The National Cathedral (Episcopalian) even allowing Islamic prayer services. Blind to what's happening to their institutions because their eschatology suggests that falling away scripture warns about was over and done with in the first century.

This compared to my observations of the considerable outreach and missionary work of futurist institutions, which far from "withdrawing" are the opposite of what the author suggests. Desperate to bring as many to the Lord as they can because they believe Christ's return is nearby. The author got it exactly backwards.

That little strip of land that is currently called Israel is the main reason for all the misery in the middle east today. The so called "Jews" are nothing more than descendants from the Khazars 7th century converts to Judaism. The current day Jews support apartheid polices and are interested only in obtaining more land at the expense of others. They abuse and manipulate evangelical Christians in their attempts to do this below is one small example:

"The guideline of our policy has always been the idea that a permanent situation of no peace and a latent war is the best situation for us, and that it must be maintained at all costs. ... we are becoming stronger year by year in a situation of impending conflict where it is possible that actual fighting may break out from time to time. SUch wars will usually be short and the results guaranteed in advance, since the gap between us and the Arabs is increasing. In this way we shall move on from occupation to further occupation. ... this criminally mischievous policy has led us into the crisis we are living through today"

Gen 12:3  I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

The above Scripture is why you won't get much traction with your post. Christians want to pass over Paul's admonishment that Abraham's offspring is Christ, not a nation.  (God does not favor one race over another.)   I've posted information here many times about how 750,000 Palestinians, including Christians, were forced to leave their homes and their places of worship so that Jewish refugees would have a place to go after WWII. Britain gained control of Palestine and the United States pressured them to turn over the area to the refugees.  Many Christians were killed and their places of worship were taken over or burned.  Neither Britain nor the United States would open the gates to take Jewish refugees, which would have kept them from ending up in Hitler's concentration camps and his gas chambers.  These Jews would not have become terrorists but yet today we're trying to pretend that we're such a generous people to open up our borders to Syrians and others, some whose long-range intent is to terrorize the United States.   As our President-elect has said, we don't really know who these people are, but Obama and Clinton were going to widely open the gates for them.

Now we've reached 2016 and we must support Israel as our best Middle Eastern ally.   We've made our bed and have to lie in it.   Palestinians are not fans of our country because we helped displace them.   Militant Islamists have sympathize with them and support them.

Paul solidly refutes the dispy interpretation of Gen 12:3.

One of my greatest worries about the Trump administration is that some of the dispies in his orbit will convince him to do evil for Israel.  They'll try to push him to break the treaty with Iran and march us toward unjust war with Iran.  They'll push for Trump to ignore, and even assist, Israel's abuse of her neighbors.  They'll push for Trump to ignore the treatment of Christians by the Israeli government.  Anyway they can cause trouble for Christians and kill Muslims, dispies will be looking for it.  And, if they get Trump to do these evil things, Trump will be letting Liberals get their way at home, just as the Bushes did.

Genesis 13:3 has nothing to do with present day Israel. The promise was made to Abram and no one else. There is nothing in the text to indicate that God intended the promise to apply to  Abraham's physical descendants unconditionally. In the NT we are explicitly told that the promises were fullfilled in Jesus and those who acknowledge him as their saviour and lord

Only one SEED of Abraham carries the promises and blessings of Abraham (Galatians 3:16)... Christ and the New Covenant Israel namely the church (Galatians 6:15-16 and Romans 11:17-21). Old Covenant Israel passed away in A.D. 70 (Hebrews 8:13 & Hebrews 10:9).

Preterism is phony as a Ford Corvette. The prophesied eschatological events have simply NOT YET OCCURRED ! They CANNOT be found in history whatsoever!
