subscribing to threads

On another forum I frequent we have a button: "my rc groups" on that site.  Every time we post we subscribe to the thread to which we reply, when we hit the button a list of subscribed threads with an unread comment comes up.

Is there something similar here?

Yes. We have a "Notify" button at the top and bottom of each thread.

I found it.   I had seen the notify button, and assumed such a list existed, but didn't know where to find it.

I'm not sure the following is a match to what you use somewhere else, but on your profile at the left side there is a "Notifications and Email" under the option "Modify Profile."

Current Topic Notifications

A list of topics I have responded to that I will receive emails to because I have checked "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic." This is at the top of this screen.

Current Board Notifications

The secone list beneath the "Current Topic Notifications" is this list of Forums you want to receive notifications of when someone starts a new topic.

Lastly, if you want to subscribe to receive notices to any particular thread you haven't participated in, you may hit the "Notify" button at the top or bottom of any thread. Of course any thread you post on automatically receives email notices until you unsubscribe.
