if i start a topic, and someone continues to disrupt it can i have a moderator remove his posts from it?

fenton,

you are correct that is disconcerting when you start a conversation and two goobers get into a shouting match that has nothing to do with your comments or questions.

out of cyber-space, this would be considered rude and immature.

but, what can you do?!

it seems to me that the moderators do not have the time, wisdom, nor inclination to take on this responsibility.

idea #1 -- tell the rowdies to take their fight to another room?! (like they'd listen)

idea #2 -- ignore the children and carry on an adult conversation with the grown-ups? (hard to hear over the brats)

idea #3 -- move to another post and start over without the kids? (but, can't lock the door and keep THEM out)

oh well ...

We do this all the time. The fact I receive an email and only read the first post on a thread unless I'm interested and post on it, I do not receive further notification of them, and do not read further replies to it.

When problems of this nature occur in what we call hijacking a thread (Rule 2.3), I depend on reports to moderator, or a PM asking for help. At that time I must decide what needs to be pruned from the thread to bring it back into line with the OP (Original post). This also applies to arguments, name calling, etc. Due to the author of a thread replying to a question asked them that might turn the topic of the OP, I will not normally prune those posts.

Rule 2.3 You will not post replies in threads that are off-topic to the original post. That is considered "thread hijacking

Although you cannot "lock the door" to specific posters,  you can keep the door locked to all but those you invite in in the debate section.

Carey.

If its not a debate won't the mods move it?

larry2

PM me with the thread name and where it is, or link address, let me take a look at it and I'll see what I can do. Thanks

have you tried the [more] link at the end of the "smilies"?!

and, you can google for MORE SMILIES!! or EVEN, MORE!

but, the moderators (and Jesus) may not like some of them?  REMEMBER, this is a "Christian" forum.
