Every once in a while I see a strange ad.. Stuff like "we're not looking for young men" that allude to adult types of pages.

Not sure if it's just me or not.  If I see this stuff what should I do?

It just doesn't seem approiate for a grace centered christian forum..

Sorry to bring this up but on the marriage forum it's quite a temptation.

Nevertheless

Please report any inappropriate ads to a moderator. It is most helpful if we know the url of the website being advertised.

How do you get the url of the ads?

I just saw one advertizing islamic wives ......

This one actually listed the addy in the ad but most do not.

IslamicMarriage . com  (spaces added to make it not a usable link)

Nevertheless

Usually if you hover over the ad you can see the url. On my browser it shows up in the lower left corner of the screen.

I'll report the Islamic marriage ad. Thanks.

If I write click on the ad, I get the option of copying the image url.  Assuming that is what the mods require?

Possibly . . .

The image is usually a clickable link, so there are two separate urls. One is the location of the image on the web. The other is the website they want you to go to, where your browser will go if you click it. I think it is the second one, the linked website, that Admin needs in order to block an ad, but the first may give him what he needs. I'm just not sure.

I'm probably not the right mod to answer these questions because I don't see any of the ads.

The problem is....what if someone is struggling with porn or other temptation and they come here to escape? Encouraging them to copy the URL is really not a good idea!

I'd raise the question again....does the small amount of income this brings in, really make it worth it, to potentially have people be led astray?

Nevertheless

Well, Happy, I don't mean to sound insensitive,  but how does this person deal with that type of ad other places? Admin does the best he can by blocking those that are reported, but he has to have the info before he can use it. Providing this message board is expensive, and Admin cannot afford to do it without ad revenue.

But the revenue from these things is only surely a few bucks a day....plus, the site only gets paid (presumably!) on click through a!
Call me old fashioned, but there's gotta be a better way to fund a Christian website than making revenue off of 'dating for married people' websites.

Anyway, it's just an opinion! :)

OK - got another one.  I think the website was called "Kabam" and it is a pic of a well-endowed young woman who is almost spilling out of her top.

"Clash of the Dragons  Save your Kingdom!"

Nevertheless

Okay, I'll pass it on.
