I saw this last night.  It is based on a true story - and the Preacher is still doing what he is doing in Africa.

It is a very good movie, and it makes you think.  Sam Childers comes from the "rough" segment of society - drug addict, immoral, killer, robber - who came home from serving time in prison to a convert wife (former stripper) and religious mother.  He reached the bottom and found Jesus - this reminds me of the testimony of a former thug somewhere in Latin America, who also found God right there when he was at the bottom.

Childers became inspired and went to Africa to help, and later on founded an orphanage (even giving up his own wealth).  Back in Pennsylvania, he founded a fellowship church for those who - like him - live on the fringe.

In Africa, Childers witnessed horrific massacres and atrocities to children (by the group led by that infamous Kony guy).
Childers ended up defending and rescuing children by taking up arms.  His faith wavered from what he'd seen and experienced in Africa - like any humans who'd sometimes question their faith - but eventually found it back through the words of a child.  Kony had placed a bounty on his head.  He still fights for the children in Africa.

Very good movie, makes a Christian ponder the use of weapons in the mission fields, I believe this preacher uses them in the correct way, to protect children.

Yeah,

Seen this movie last year.
Just a normal guy with normal issues. (Those that think his issues aren't normal live in too isolated a lifestyle)

He changed and did an about face. He truly repented. Not many "normal" guys do that.

Can many claim that they repented in a severe fashion like he did?
