Hi All,

I usually post in the end times forum. But I had a question, and it's one I cannot answer.. hoping someone can help me out.

I believe God is good and the Bible is true. I believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Most High and our only hope.

Recently an Atheist posted a video for me on facebook about how nature is cold and cruel, in response to my saying that the order and beauty of the universe testifies to us that God indeed exists. So it got me thinking, and wondering, with things like disease.. we know bacteria and viruses cause a lot of pain and suffering in people's bodies. Did this harmful bacteria etc. come about after the fall of man? Or did God create these things sometime within the 6 days and man was just immune to them?

I would really appreciate any of your thoughts on this. I hate doubt, and sometimes people put doubts in my heart with their accusations against God and His goodness. I know though that there is a good answer for them out there, just sometimes I cannot see it. So thanks :)

When God finished creating, he said that it was "good".
When Adam decided to rule the planet independent of God, ie. Adam would be the source of right and wrong, he removed the created world away from God's benevolence and into darkness and independence. Of course the impetus to do this came from Satan, therefore Satan now had relatively free reign over the created order, which with God's benevolence sidelined, began to degenerate.
Death came by Adam. Disease is an aspect of death.

Pretty much as FD said, only here are some more details....just like there were no "poisonous" snakes or spiders in God's creation, the fall of man and subsequent curse upon creation, God knew that it was going to happen eventually (if He didn't, then why would He have created mankind with an immune system, seeing as how all was very good?). God created the snake, the spider, and virus' and germs, but in their original created form they were not harmful to anything, they served a specific purpose in the order of things. However, once sin and the curse entered the picture, what God had created as good became tainted, and some of those aspects twisted.

For example, God says that plants where the original food of all living things, this included tigers, snakes, sharks, spiders...all living things...even T-rex ate plants. Then sin and the fall came, T-res (it is supposed with no actual evidence to back that claim), tigers, sharks, snakes, and spiders all became carnivorous in their own ways. Yet we still see some of God's original order in nature, for example, there is a species of spider in South America that still only survives upon a certain plant...ants run by it all day long and it never attacks them because it only subsists upon this plant. I cannot remember the name of the spider or which country exactly that it thrives in, but the fact remains. Canines, like cats, have fangs and pointy teeth, yet canines are omnivorous while cats are usually strictly carnivorous...my point being that scientists usually base what an organism eats by the shape of their teeth...yet creatures with fangs do not always eat meat. Teeth are teeth, in different shapes and sizes, but they are not always indicative of what the animal eats...they are just teeth.

Just so, virus' and germs had an original created programming that some lost because of the curse, while other retain. For example, there are good bacteria and germs living right within your body at this moment, some in your gut that you would find impossible to live without because they perform functions in digestion and other activities helpful to our health and well-being.

If your doubt is whether God created the germ or if (since it is today considered to be bad) they came about via an evolutionary means, rest in the first chapter of Genesis. Something that evolutionists vehemently deny (and that, too, without any evidence or logical common sense) is that if they came about via evolution, then they (being single celled organisms) would have killed off all life on this planet as it was trying to get started. According to them, all life began as single celled organisms and then, through some miraculous events (which are denied according to the laws of nature), these single celled organisms began sticking together to form cell sheets, which eventually became tissues, which gave life a means to make organs, systems (digestive systems), skin and cohesion...to become a living creature. However, to their chagrin, if germs, bacteria, and virus' were always harmful as they claim, then those harmful elements would kill off any "evolving creatures" before they had a chance to develop any kind of immune system to deal with such germs, bacteria and virus'.

Blessings!

God desires to bless us, but as He warned, if we choose to disobey His Voice then disease will come upon us, it's a promise.
Ex 15:26

26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
