How to become a moderator?

I know I just joined and is still new but I was wondering how to become a moderator??Do you have to work your way up or what??

Those of us chosen to be moderators had been here for over a year before we were tapped to become moderators.
Many were here for years before being tapped.
The whole time we were posting we demonstrated temperment and maturity when posting. So much so that other moderators suggested it to the owner of the site. (He actually lives near me but we have not met personally. Both of us have busy lives)

We are an all volunteer staff. (Except for one admin (b.perry) who keeps the platform going but he does no moderator functions)
