Please someone help an old fool that is not internet proficient.  I have a pid in photobucket that I want to put on my avatar.  I have made several attempts but nothing happens.  I click on the URL for forums on photobucket and it copys the URL into the box for my avatar on my profile  but when I click on "change profile"  Nothing appears, as you can see.

I think you have to have 50 posts before a personal avatar will show up. You might be able to use one of the stock ones before that.

Thanks Dave, I have 288 posts.

If the photo you want to use has a too large pixel count, it will not go through.

Stucky you have to upload your picture to a site like Photo Bucket and they give it a url or web address that you can cut and paste in between the image brackets.

Unfortunately it's not as easy as old farts like me needs. There is a thrrad on the forum Issues and Help section about posting pictures that might be helpful.

Maybe someone else can explain it better.

That's where I up0loaded from.  NOW when you use photobucket you click on the url for forums and it says copied and when you get back to your profile the URL  is already in the box, however, when you lcick on change profile it just puts a small red x where the avatar should be.  I'll look in the Issues and Help Section again.  I looked there before and couldnt find anything.  Thanks for your help Jaime.

Okay, I tried it on my own profile and it worked, so there is nothing wrong with the photo. I know you've tried, and it looks like you did everything right, but try following these steps to see if it will work.

1. Open another browser window or tab and go here - http://www.gracecentered.com/christian_forums/index.php
(That way you can easily refer back to these instructions.)
2. Near the top of the page, hover on the "Profile" link then click "Forum Profile."
3. The first option is "Personalized Picture". Choose "Specify avatar by URL"
4. Highlight this url, right click, and choose "copy" - http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q697/Richard_Stuckmeyer/Christianflag_zps620cc399.jpg
5. On your profile page, right click in the box under "Specify your own avatar by URL. (e.g.: h ttp://www.mypage.com/mypic.gif)" and choose "paste".
6. Scroll to the bottom of the profile page and click the "Change Profile" button.

That should work. If it doesn't, I don't know what to tell you.

Thanks Nevertheless, I did everything exactly as you said and all it did was remove the little red x from where my avatar should be.  I'll just do without my own personal avatar.  God bless you.

Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox?
I believe it might be you don't have Flash installed.
Go to this Website and see if it works.

This site doesn't use flash.  Also, if you have flash installed on your computer, disable it.  There is a pretty serious hole in flash right now that allows access to the contents of your computer to pretty much anyone who wants it and Adobe is saying it will take months to roll out a fix for the problem.

Currently, adobe is working on a replacement for flash called edge which is html5/css compliant and will not have those holes or the system overhead that flash requires.

Sorry fcadcock, but that site does use flash, if it is not installed it will give you a link to download.
If flash is working, a screen to begin a speed test will be displayed.

They just released a security update.
