Hey all,

I was just married 3 years ago, and I soon realized that I have more anger in me than I thought.  Any advice?

When anger begins to boil up within you, go immediately and do a prayer walk. It's good training to go to God for help, and it relieves anyone you care about from suffering.

Prayer.  Taking angry thoughts captive, focus on the good things. Be thankful. Forgive quickly. Communicate effectively your needs without finger pointing or fault finding. Apologize quickly, because more important than being right, is healthy relationships.  ::smile:: Good luck!

My husband struggles with anger.  He has learned to retrain his thoughts and find out what is the root emotion that is stoking the fires of anger and then dealing with the real issue.

1.  Consider seeing a therapist / counselor.  You can get at the underlying problems/hurt/frustration  ,
see patterns, learn coping mechanisms.

2.  If necessary, antidepressants may be used is moderate to severe cases for people that are just angry and irritable for no reason

What does your anger look like?  When do you feel it welling up inside you?

I too have anger issues and I have found that instead of praying for God to help me control the anger, I pray for Him to change my heart all together. Meaning that if I get made because my husband keeps interupting me, I ask God to change my heart so that it doesn't bother me because I know that the interuption is unintentional. That way instead of just controlling the anger, I eliminate it all together. But also remember that some anger is healthy as long as its not paired with sin such (Ephesians 4:26-Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath). Anger can bring problems to the surface that need to be addressed as long as the anger doesn't result in blow ups and hurtful words. Hope this helps and praying for you ::prayinghard::
