The Passion is a movie I think hits bottom . Way too violent , written by Roman Catholics , seems they enjoy bloodshed.  Wow! why would someone want to see it???

I have to ask... Do you think Jesus death was a non violent occasion?

I think the Passion got it mostly right (I have some minor issues...) , most of the movies about Jesus water down Calvary. From the moment the movie opened with his prayer in the garden to the bloodiness of the cross I think Gibson captured quite well the mood and physicality of the occasion.

Roman Crucifixions were not pretty scenes, to paint it other wise does not do Jesus death any justice...

my humble 2 cents

For me it was the movie Colors.  I walked out of it five minutes into the movie.  It was really bad.

Son of a Preacher Man

Here's some of the worst films of the last 15 years...

Titanic
Pearl Harbor
Varsity Blues
Gigli
Rocky IV
Summer Catch
Left Behind II
Left Behind
Batman & Robin
Tiptoes

Since the first part of this thread has disappeared, I'll re-post my votes for Punch Drunk Love and AI as two of the absolute worst.

boringoldguy

I have to agree about AI.   I did, however, enjoy the robot-smashing scene.   It was sort of like watching Battlebots.

When I attended,  the entire audience was in stitches during that part of the movie.  Of course, our culture here is a little bit different.

kalen

I know lots of people on this board liked \"Napoleon Dynamite\", but I sure didn't.  Worst movie I've seen all year.

I think I've blocked out most of that movie from my memory -- I really don't even remember that part.

The only part that I can't forget is when the little boy is sitting at the bottom of the ocean talking to the blue fairy. Don't worry though, he gets rescued by aliens later.

I will re-register my vote for Legally Blonde 2 as the worst movie I have seen in the last 5 years... If you see a box at the video store with Reese Witherspoon in a pink business suit, RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

my humble 2 cents

DCR

The Avengers with Uma Thurman and Sean Connery.  It was pretty bad if I remember right.

You're just wrong and you're going to have to change.

What about \"Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000\"??

Skip

I watched so few movies made in the last 15 years that I really haven't seen any turkeys (I've not seen a single movie listed on the thread so far). I really only saw the Star Wars, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings movies, and a few others (like Finding Nemo, the Stargate movie that kicked off the series, Pirates of the Caribbean). For the most part, they were really good movies.

Probably the worst of the bunch was Star Trek: Generations - it was so-so, but not really bad. The worst of the others had lackluster plots, scripts / dialog, or acting, but were not really bottom-of-the-barrel when compared with the \"competition\".

But if you let me slide back into the period 1965-1989, I could list off a few flops.

In my experience with classic movies, the period that spawned what evolved into what I would call the \"modern dud\" was about 1965-1970, when modern art began to influence the commercial movie industry.

If you take the time to watch several movies from before 1965, they will really grow on you. And you may find when coming back to newer movies that they seem less good than you remember -- and that the excessive language, violence, and adult situations in modern movies are usually gratuitous.

I miss the old science fictions.  They were great fodder for lazy sunday afternoons and Mystery Science Theater!

Not trying to get off topic, but please explain to me why the devil would have enjoyed the movie, \"The Passion of the Christ\" the most...

I'm not standnawe, but he doesn't come around very often so I will offer a possible explanation.  I wondered what he meant by that statement, too, James.  After mulling it over, I decided maybe he meant that the devil would have enjoyed watching the brutality of the crucifixion, while the rest of us certainly found it agonizing.[/color]

James Rondon

I hope that is the case, Connie. But due to what was written in stand's very first post on this thread, especially the statement \"written by Roman Catholics\", I'm wondering if that is truly the case.

Anyway, I can't figure it out from your posts, standnawe, but have you even seen the movie? It almost sounds as if you haven't. Just curious.

spurly

I think any movie by the porn industry could win the honor of one of the worst movies ever.

Indeed. It dragged on... and on... and on...

Petals

Guaranteed--the worst movies of the last 15 yrs. and maybe --EVER, are those that the critics rave about.  Usually they're garbage, and if it's a comedy, the only funny parts in the movie, are the short bits they show in the previews.   IMHO ::whistle::

It may have been boring, but the first 20 minutes...wasn't it a re-enactment of the actual hostage taking at the Olympics (and it's tragic outcome)?

If one says "no way" to that, the rest of the film wouldn't make much sense... ::frown::

mandalee65

The English Patient. Utterly boring.

Dumb and Dumberer - I was forced against my will.

All of the Scream movies.

DH says Cabin Fever made him feel guilty for watching it.

...and I'm with Kalen on Napoleon Dynamite. BORING!

Manda, I can't believe you included Dumb and Dumber on the list. That was a true classic.

Unfortunately my list includes anything made in the last 24 months pretty much.

Logismos

Dumb and Dumberer...the prequel to Dumb and Dumber.

I agree that Pearl Harbor was pretty bad except for the actual attack scene. But Titanic? That was a pretty good movie.

I think the Last Samurai was one of the worst movies. Not only was it a completely inaccurate portrayal of Samurai in the 1800s but the idea that the widow of the guy Tom Cruise killed is going to turn around fall in love with him is stupid.
