Someone can delete this. I dont need it anymore. Just wrote it originally to gather my thoughts and maybe get some encouraging or challenging replies. Instead I got one that came off disrespectful and irrelevant.

There is a difference between missing having a girlfriend and missing this girl in particular and the relationship you once had but blew.

and yes, you blew it. Its OK...we ALL blow it once in a while...even when it matters.

Drive for something...its an important aspect of people's character. If you do not have an all consuming desire to do something...guess what?

You end up washed up.

Your father obviously has a drive within him. He seen a need and became self-employed to fulfill that need. Thats what it is about...fulfilling a need of a community or person.

Your ex-girlfriend really doesn't need you...in fact you might bring down her goals and dreams. (Just something to consider) In what way are you going to bring talents and skills to the table which will assist her in attaining her goals and dreams? What do you have to offer her besides companionship which you already have stated that you failed at, which to me, seems fueled mostly by self interests.

Marriage is all about giving. Thats the goal. Someone to give to on a regular basis even when you don't want to, don't feel like it, and in real need yourself. All of this occurs when there is a full on power struggle as to who is really in the lead in a relationship...And with this EX-girlfriend of yours she obviously was in the lead.

Living in a big city is vastly different than living in Mississippi.  Where you are at is full of small towns...last time I went through there were billboards up talking all about statutory rape of minors with corny slogans about "If she says she is 16 but is really 14"...It is not a burgeoning metropolis by any stretch of the imagination. Try New York. Try Los Angeles or the Bay Area in CA. The cities stretch for miles and miles with no end in sight. One town runs right into the next one. Those areas are vastly different than a little burg in the middle of nowhere CA. (And more like Europe)
